Great as eye shadow!
Back when Bright Poppy was the only shade in stock, I picked it up because I just had to try it... kinda knowing I probably didn't have the skills to make these colors work as a blush or highlight for my corpse-pale skin. And I was right... BUT, it is absolutely glorious as an eye shadow duo. I find myself reaching for this almost daily. I can make it look perfectly lovely as a day look, or I can glam it up and make it work for when I perform. The formula is beautiful, and I can't wait to review one of his other shades as an actual blusher once I have one in my clutches.
Pale folks, don't be shy! Bright Poppy is beautiful.
Perfect sun-kissed blush
I have light-medium skin and go for natural looks, and so I wasn’t sure Bright Poppy would be for me, but I so loved it in Wayne’s video that I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did! I use a very soft, not too dense brush (my favorite for this blush is Wayne’s Artist Collection Medium grey squirrel hair brush), and I get the most perfect I’ve been out in the sun kind of flush. So while this blush is by far the brightest I own, it is also probably the most natural when used this way. It’s finely milled and blends effortlessly. I knocked off one star because I would have preferred the blush come with a different highlight shade. I can use this one under the blush for a more luminous look or on my eyes, but it’s too deep for me to use as a more traditional highlight.
Fab formula and color-use a LIGHT hand! Not a fan of highlighters, so waste for me.
While I prefer cream blushes, the formula for Wayne's powder blushes is fantastic. I have all except Coral Rose which was out of stock. First tip-you absolutely have to have a very light hand when applying your brush to powder. Do Not Swipe! I simply lay my brush on the pan, lift up, turn it and lay it on again letting the weight of the brush itself pick up powder. This way you can get the watercolor wash effect if you want, or build it up. The colors seem to change from their bright color in the pan after applying and they settle on your skin. Personally I simply do not like highlighters at all and think they look rather silly on the skin, but nice on photoshoots where the lighting is controlled. I only use foundation in my T-zone to smooth out some redness and light is reflected naturally on my skin, which I prefer. So a huge pan of highlighter in all of these blushes is a waste of money for me. I wish the colors had been grouped separately from the highlighters. If you do use the highlighter, it is best applied first, then the blush on top the way Wayne shows in his videos.
It was worth the cost
I picked up both the bright Poppy and the Vivid Azalea. They were pricey but I know I trust Wayne's products and they didn't disappoint. I am not a heavy blush person as I tend to have redness and don't want to draw more attention to those areas. But this blends out to a beautiful tone. And on the eyelids left heavier handed it is amazing. the Poppy topped with the gold highlight is just outstanding on the eyes. 11 out of 10. And we can't say that Wayne isn't generous with the product. Huge mirror, large pans, great product.
Super Colour Payoff
No joke, a gentle tap on the blush with your brush without stroking across the blush will give you the colour you need on your cheeks if you are fair like me. I wear Chanel foundation #20 or Sisley foundation #0.R. Vanilla. The colour Golden Glow is gorgeous as a highlight on cheeks or eyeshadow. The colour Sunny is a very healthy rosy warm blush on me. Will definitely buy the other palettes but no idea how I could possibly hit pan if I only need a gentle tap for each application. This palette will last me a zillion years!
I bought one blush just to see how much I would like it. And I love it! I like a more natural look and not so full coverage, so just a touch gives me a beautiful flushed look. I did what Wayne recommended and put the highlight under the blush and was most definitely not disappointed. The highlight is not chunky or small glitter or shimmery. Not chalky, patchy or ashy in any way. Highlight has an ethereal glow by once applied. Both are easy to apply and blends with a light hand. However, the 9 month shelf life does leave something to be desired, but still a wonderful product!
So this is what a luxurious blush is like
I thought I owned every quality of blush--I have everything from Physicians Formula to Marc Jacobs. I was so, very wrong. Wow, what can I say. There's just something special about this blush formulation. You only need one tap with this pigmentation, be careful! But it spreads like a dream, doesn't lift *unset* concealer, and blurs,. The way it sits on the skin, the way the highlight just somehow disappears into your face and gives you this luminosity that looks like you're pointing a camera's flash on your face. How is that even possible? I don't know but I couldn't be happier with this purchase. You can even get two colors out of this. If you apply mostly the first shade with a touch of the second, you get the poppy color. However, if you apply the highlight shade onto the cheeks and then pop a tiny bit of the blush, you get a completely new color of shimmery apricot, which is just as delicious. I wasn't the intended audience this blush was formulated for being 25, but this is the best blush for anyone any age period.
Gorgeous
This is the most beautiful blush I have ever worn. I have medium tan skin( NC35) and I was worried that this color would be too bright for my complexion. It's perfection. I applied the highlight color first and then the blush color. Highly recommended . I plan on buying the coral rose as soon as it is back in stock .
