Create lit-from-within radiance with Korea’s best-selling primer. Engineered to capture and reflect light while enhancing your makeup’s wear, Lumilayer Primer uses VDL’s trademark Prismatic Pearls to create a silky-smooth surface and revitalize dull skin. Sheer red and blue pigments combine to emit a soft-focus violet sheen that brightens and refines for a poreless, luminescent look.
After moisturizer and before makeup, warm a small amount of the primer between fingers and gently press into skin. Can be worn alone, under foundation, or as a sheer highlighter.

I have never been a big primer-user, for the simple fact that I never found a primer that I felt made a difference! But the VDL Lumilayer primer peaked my interest! It promise "glass-like" skin, and I must say I agree - my skin looks so healthy, blurred and perfected like a porcelain doll!
The consistency of this primer is light, hydrating and creamy like a moisturizer - I don't feel the heavyness and the silicone effect that many pore filling primers have, yet this primer still blurres my skin perfectly!
At first try I was surprised by the iridescence look of the primer and I was afraid that it would make my skin look shimmery, but I was wrong. The iridescent shine absorbed beautifully in the skin and just made it look healthy and glowy!
I tried the primer with a few of my favorite foundations, all light coverage foundation (I'm just not into full coverage on my skin). With all the foundations I felt like the glow came though strong and made my skin look healthy and dewy but still blurred, with the addition of a setting powder I took a bit of the dew away but the glow was still strong.
My favorite way to use this primer is with my Laura Geller Balance & Bright powder foundation. This combination is a match made in heaven! My skin looks absolutely flawless, but not flat matte! The shine from the powder shines though the powder easily and makes me look so healthy and youthful! This combination is my new HG!
I am definitely gonna try out the other primers from VDL!
I bought this myself after seeing several articles about it, and it does not disappoint. I apply it after my moisturizer, although it's so moisturizing some people could skip moisturizer and just use the primer. When a product claims to be luminous, I'm usually worried about glitter or mica that will settle into all my fine lines and collect on any patches of dry skin. Not with this! It does have tiny tiny micro glitters, but they're impossible to see unless you're looking very close up. The product comes in a glass bottle with a pump, and comes out looking pearlescent and creamy. I apply it alone with a Real Techniques Blotting Cushion, or I sometimes mix it with a liquid foundation and apply them together with a large oval face brush. Either way my skin looks soft, glowing, and moisturized all day long. I did have a slight issue with breakouts the first few days, but that was just a few small pimples on my chin from over-moisturizing. When I adjusted my skincare routine to include this primer, they cleared right up. It's very rare that I go through an entire container of anything, including primer, let alone buy a second one like I'm about to do. But I love love love this product, it makes my 38 year old, chronically ill, dehydrated winter skin look young, dewy and fresh again.
At first glance, I didn't see much of a difference between the VDL and other products. Then, I leaned in closer to the mirror and OH MY GOSH!!!! My skin looked flawlessly beautiful. Trust me, I have large pores and oily skin and somehow the primer blurred my pores and made my skin glow as though I had a slight highlight all over my skin. It wasn't overkill. Rather, my skin reflected shades of pale pink, violent and simply just my skin color. To be honest, I use it as a primer, foundation, and as a mix-in with my foundation. I also use the Flesh primer that, I think, is supposed to reveal the same look as VDL, but this is like the mother of all primers. I was hesitant to review it because I don't want it to sell out. Yep, it's that good!
I admit I wasn't sure this would work for my combination mature skin. Surprisingly does a much better job than other silicone based primers. Love the glow and blurring effect on larger pores and even fills in fine lines. I will repurchase.
The first time I used this I could not believe how baby soft my skin felt.
This gives my skin a beautiful soft focus effect after applying- 'soft focus and healthy'. Perfect for no makeup days. It is the consistency of a light day moisturizer. It sinks into the skin and dries very fast!! It is not sticky!! -and does not leave a residue on my hands!
I always use a primer before foundation, and I have used this with MAC face and body and Laura Mercier Tinted moisturizer so far, with great results. I don't wear full coverage foundation, so I can't attest to that. And I have worn alone, no foundation, and loved it!
I purchased a full size after receiving a sample with a Beautylish order. Sending samples work (; I gave it four stars because it does have a perfume scent. It is not a natural, spa scent, but a definite perfume smell. I have no idea where it falls on the ingredients list, but you definitely need to know this. If you are sensitive to smells, I would get a sample. I am personally very sensitive to scents, and this doesn't make me ill, but it is perfumed.
This is a good primer and the consistency is much like the hourglass mineral veil. I have dry skin with a little texture and this does a decent job of smoothing my skin. I wear long wear matte foundations and I find that they mask the glowy effect. I never thought to mix it with my foundation and I'll have to try that. I'm having a hard time reviewing this because it is a perfectly fine primer, I like the smoothness it gives my skin but it is just not wowing me. I will be using this up but I don't know that I'd repurchase.
This primer is really unlike anything I've ever used. The consistency reminds me of the Becca First Light primer- it's very light and spreadable and feels hydrating. I was kind of shocked the first time I used it because you can really see a red/blue iridescent shift and I was quite nervous to put that on my face. I use my damp Beauty Blender to press this primer into my skin and it gives my face such a pearly glow and blurred effect like I'm a walking snapchat filter. I've also been adding a tiny amount to my foundation to give an extra little glowing boost and I'm really happy with how that looks. I think the amount of product you receive in the bottle is also quite generous so this has really become my new go-to!
As a fan of Korean skincare, I was really excited to start venturing out and trying Korean cosmetics and this primer has so far delighted me. I personally have dry/dehydrated skin and tend to sway towards more hydrating primers that leave a nourished and refreshed feeling. I personally have found a match while using this primer, as it contains small light reflecting pears that give my skin give off a glow from within. It has a light gel-like texture and absorbs quite quickly, and leaves my skin feeling moisturized and tacky so that foundation actually binds with the primer to allow for my foundation to adhere to the skin. I also really enjoy putting a pump or two of this primer into my foundation and create my own custom bb cream for the days that I want my skin to give off the no-makeup makeup look, and recommend others to do so when they want to sheer out any full coverage foundation. Since trying this product I have repurchased for my mom and my best friend and they adore the way that this product sits on their skin. If you’re in the market for a primer look no more, and give VDL primers a chance!
The effect is there but I got bumps after I use this. Too bad. You can use this as primer or mix it with foundation to add a glowy effect.
A very nice, glow producing primer. One star off for me as there is no SPF. Use as a base layer or mix into heavier coverage foundations for versatility. Mimics the effects of much pricier formulas. Probably better for normal to dry skin types.
