Each brush features distinctive wavy handles that are crafted from keyaki wood, meticulously balanced, and polished using traditional tonoko powder for a smooth finish. The saikoho goat bristles are hand-dyed with kakishibu—a persimmon tannin dye with a revered history dating back to the 13th century. These brushes are crafted in Kumano, Japan, reflecting the highest standards of artisan skill, so production is limited by the availability of materials and artisans.

Why It's Special

• Wavy handles are well-balanced, easy to hold, and made using Keyaki Zelkova Serrata—a luxurious native wood from Japan. Handles may differ in hue and grain, depending on the wood piece, adding to their unique beauty
• Saikoho goat bristles are dyed with kakishibu (persimmon tannin dye)—dating back to the 13th century, this dying technique is regarded as a precious traditional craft and has received national awards
• The bristle dying method adds more grip to the bristles, allowing the brushes to also be used with cream and liquid products
• Made in Kumano, Japan with a very high level of artisan craftsmanship, so production is limited, based on material and artisan availability
