If you’re like me and were absolutely devastated when Tom Ford’s Bronzer Brush 05 natural hair version was discontinued later last year, you will be so happy to find this. This is a dupe for that brush in every sense of the word. First off, let me start by stating that I have nothing against the new synthetic hair version of the Tom Ford Bronzer Brush 05. I’m just a natural hair snob and prefer natural over synthetic when it comes to bronzer brushes. Ok, now on to why this brush is so amazing: it’s made of Hakutotsu Goat hair which is a coarser part of the goat’s hair and hence picks up and deposits product more easily. I’m no way is Hakutotsu Goat hair scratchy or rough. But on the molecular level it is significantly more coarse than saikoho goat hair.
If you’re like me and have sensitive skin or prefer softer bristles you can still use the BP013 but you must keep in mind the pressure you apply to your skin when using this brush. This brush is already going to do all the blending for you but you still have to hold it in place. Just make sure to use a light hand and do not fray away from trying different types of goat hair brushes if you’re a beginner.
BP013 is densely packed and an absolute joy to use. On days when I’m running late and need to throw on a quick face, this guy never fails me.
Being able to shop Koyudo on a non-foreign site makes me the happiest camper in the world. Love Koyudo!!!!!
I love foundation brushes and this one does not disappoint. I used it with liquid foundation and found the application process fast, even and streak free. The Hakutotsu Goat hair allowed me to use less product than usual so I had a little left on my palette. Only light pressure is needed as the brush head is quite dense. The bristles, whist firm, are not at all irritating on the skin. I really like this one and would definitely recommend it.
Having also been interested in the natural hair version of the Tom Ford Bronzer Brush 05, I purchased the BP013 at Alexis S’s recommendation. I was surprised upon receiving this brush due to the density. I can easily say that this is the most dense brush in my collection. Upon the first use, I was hesitant to apply too much pressure, thinking that it will lay down the bronzer heavily. I quickly realized that I’m able to use the normal amount of pressure with my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. The finish I got from this brush is a very diffused but even lay down of color. While the size of the brush was intimidating at first, I didn’t find the color to go everywhere while implementing a slight degree of control with application. I have to stress that this brush would only be suitable for bronzing since the size does not allow it to be precise enough for contouring or even brontouring if you will. Ever since I received this brush a few months back, I have not wanted to use anything else to bronze the skin. If you missed the boat on the natural hair version of the Tom Ford bronzing brush, this is a great alternative!
While I have not used this brush for cream and liquid foundations, I did find the brush to work really well with powder foundation. The density allowed me to work the powder into the skin and get a natural, skin like finish from different powder foundations in my collection. I have used this with mineral and regular powder foundation and the brush performs equally well. Since this one brush works well for both bronzing and powder foundation, it is a great investment if you happen to use both products. I generally wipe the bronzer off on a microfiber cloth prior to using the brush for powder foundation the next day. Given the Tom Ford Brush in the synthetic version is $115, this brush is really a worthy investment!
I'm relatively new to the world of natural hair brushes but foundation brushes have quickly become my favorite category and I'm completely in love with the BP013. I use a relatively thick liquid foundation (La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation) and the application I get with this brush is so seamless. It's truly a work horse, super efficient application and very little absorption. Prefer it to my Wayne Goss and Kevyn Aucoin foundation brushes.
I'm impressed with this brush. It applies foundation effortlessly and it works great with powder products too. Great multitasker. Good for overall bronzing and diffused blush placement. I recommend getting this one!
I love this brush! I use it for bronzer and blush. It is so soooooooooo soft I look forward to the bronzer step of my makeup routine everyday because of this brush. I definitely use less less product with this brush only one sweep in the bronzer or blush that’s all it takes.
