Beauty Product Reviews

What's with the hype?

"[Seche Vite] leaves nails silky, stronger and resistant to chipping and peeling." I don't know about all that. While it does dry my polish quickly (which is definitely a plus!), it doesn't quite make them "resistant to chipping and peeling." For example, I just painted my nails last night. One layer of base coat, two coats of varnish and one coat of Seche Vite. Now, not even 24 hours later, my varnish has peeled away to nothing but bits on the sides. Also, unless you apply this top coat while your varnish is still pretty wet, it makes the varnish "shrink" (it pulls your varnish away from the tip, quite like a week of tip wear). It does, however, leave a really nice shine to the nail & leaves them feeling really strong. While the dry time is a plus, I find I get longer wear time without using it. So, unless you don't mind re-painting your nails every day or two, I wouldn't recommend this product.

Meh at best.

I've had this product for about 6 months & have tried various ways to apply it. (Spraying full pumps on the face, spraying half-pumps on the face, spraying it on a stippling brush then applying it, etc.) I just haven't found it to live up to its claims. I've oily skin, so maybe it's not the right formula for ME, but I wasn't impressed with this at all. I find it takes quite a long time to dry and my makeup slides off anyway. A few months back (probably around February) I took pictures every hour of my skin with All Nighter as a setting spray, and my makeup only lasted around 4 hours, tops. If anyone has any tips on how to apply it & how they got their great results, please clue me in! Maybe it works better in combination with a foundation primer, but overall I'm pretty disappointed and wouldn't buy this again. P.S. For $11 less and better results, I'd just get Model in a Bottle!
