Another win from Hourglass

I am a huge Hourglass fan. I have used the clear version of this lip oil for years because nothing else nourishes my lips quite like it. I decided to try this colored version and was not disappointed! It imparts a lovely moisturizing shine on the lips that is perfect for daily wear.

If you are looking to treat yourself to something a bit more luxurious, give this a try!

Shockingly small, but great quality

Good things do often come in small packages. I took off one star because given the price of this brush, I expected a larger size. I expected this to be something along the line of a Wayne Goss 25S, but it is not. This looks much more like a travel size brush to me.

That being said, the bristles are unbelievably soft. The brush also seems to hold shape well after washing. It picks up powder products and blends them beautifully.

I am very happy to have this brush in my collection, but would have preferred a bit more brush for the price. I have included a picture of this brush along side the Wayne Goss 25S, Wet n Wild and KVD brushes for scale.

The other Rae Morris brush pictured is brush 2, Mini Kabuki.

Unlike any other pencil brush

The point on this pencil brush is extremely precise. I can use it under my lower lash line to apply color, or draw liner along my upper lash line.

This works almost like a fine liner/pencil brush hybrid. If you want a brush that makes it easy to maneuver around the eye, I do recommend this one very much.

My only advice to someone new to these brushes is that you are mindful that all of the handles are quite short. These are even shorter than some older Rae Morris brushes I have, and much shorter than Wayne Goss brushes. If this doesn’t bother you, than go ahead and take the plunge because the quality and performance of this brush is fantastic.

Take note of handle length

I ordered 4 of the new vegan brushes from Rae Morris (2 eye, 2 face). I was very disappointed when I received my order and saw how TINY all of the brushes are. The handle length isn’t in the description so I wanted to mention it here. The brushes are about half the length of Kat Von D brushes, and much shorter than the Wayne Goss brushes. That being said, I held off on this review until I actually used the brushes.

I must admit, the bristles are EXTREMELY soft. This eye brush does a phenomenal job blending eyeshadow. The bristles are probably the softest synthetic bristles on the market and the quality of the brush head is remarkable. I feel this brush can compete with any luxury eye brush on the market in terms of performance.

However, I did take off 1 Star for the shockingly short handles. The brushes are also surprisingly light. Not that I want a heavy makeup brush, but for the price of these I anticipated something that felt a bit more weighty and luxurious. I have no idea why the handles are so short, but these brushes seem to be more travel size. If you prefer a short handle you will love this brush. Again, the performance is impressive and I have a feeling I will reach for this brush regularly. I just wish they were sized closer to the Wayne Goss synthetic brushes.

Worth every penny!

This is the perfect all in one face palette. If you are looking for a one and done palette to get ready in the morning, this is it! The bronzer is a nice warm hue, and the highlighter is very sophisticated. My absolute favorite part of this palette is the eyeshadow smoke shade. It looks so lovely along the lash line. All of the powders are easy to apply and blend for an effortless look. Plus, the compact size makes it easy to throw in my purse if I want to touch up or change up my look for evening. This palette can easily take you from work to after work happy hour. Very happy with my purchase.

A favorite brush!

It doesn’t look like much, but this is a must have if you use cream eyeshadow or do a lot with cut crease work. I was surprised at first as to how small the brush was. However once actually in use this became a fast favorite. If you struggle with brushes that are too large, or can’t seem to get close to your mirror due to long brush handles this brush is for you! My first time trying the brand because I only buy synthetic bristled brushes. A+

Perfect brush set!

This brush set is one of the best purchases I have made from Beautylish! I use every one of these brushes regularly. They are professional quality and really hold their shape well. The 1.12s tapered crease brush is a favorite among many makeup artists because the precision tip allows you to place and blend color so easily. The foundation brush is the perfect size for foundation and concealer. The flat eyeshadow brush is just the right size for packing color on the lid. I use the angled brush for brows or liner. The largest face brush in the set works for any powder products. The bristles have the right amount of give so you can tap product on and buff it out for a seamless look. If you are looking for a set that had the essentials, this is it. My set has held up quite well to repeated use and cleaning and I have had it for a couple of years now. I am considering buying another set so that I have multiples. Honestly, everything I have tried from this brand just works for me because the quality is truly superb!

Perfect shape & size

I find people often overlook lip brushes for some reason. I have always preferred the precision of a brush. The bristle shape of this particular brush fits the contours of my lips perfectly. The brush head has a nice angle to it allowing easy definition of the bow of the lips. The firmness makes it work well with both lip liners and lipstick. I own this brush for personal use and find the handle length works well for me. I own a few of the synthetic bristled brushes from this brand and they are all well made. If you are looking to invest in quality tools, I highly recommend this lip brush as a solid place to start.

My favorite gloss formula!

I own many products from this brand including 3 gloss colors in addition to this set. Purple is my favorite color, and this entire collection is well executed. I was unsure if all of the colors in this set would be “wearable” for everyday. They are. I am able to wear them alone or over a liquid lipstick and they work for day or night depending on how much you apply. I love how unique the color selection is, and the formula is light and hydrating, never sticky. It is rare for me to finish an entire tube of gloss quickly because I change up my makeup looks frequently. I finish a tube of Jeffree Star Cosmetics The Gloss fairly quickly because I wear at least one color daily, sometimes layering them to create different colors. These work very well over the Velour Liquid Lipstick from the brand, but also look lovely alone. I want every color and finish available because I know I will use them. If I could only own one brand of gloss for the rest of my life, this would be it. Also, the packaging is unique and looks lovely displayed on my makeup table.

A real time saver!

I considered buying this, but wasn’t sure if I should since I already own some of the individual ambient lighting powders. My cousin gave me this palette as a gift, and I have literally used it every day since. This palette contains everything I need for a full face: setting powder, blush, bronzer and highlighter. Plus the mirror is a great size for me when getting ready in the morning. If you are over 35 (like me) this is a must have. My skin is on the dry side, but these powders never settle into my fine lines nor enhance dry patches. In fact this palette does the opposite. It leaves my skin looking smooth and fresh and always photographs beautifully. The size is great for travel, and although the pans are not very large, a tiny bit of product goes a long way. If you are on the fence about this, just buy it. Totally worth it! I will add that my skin tone is fair to light, so I cannot speak to how it will work for those with a darker skin tone than mine. However, I am so unbelievably happy to have this face palette in my collection. A great grown-up, multipurpose palette that adds a touch of sophistication to my makeup looks.
