Beauty Product Reviews

Mostly did not love it

I was curious to try Wayne Goss products, but was not sure what to choose, so I jumped on the Surprise bag opportunity immediately.

Unfortunately it came out to have more misses than hits.

Firstly, I'm very fair but neutral skin tone with dark hair, and got the bag labeled Light. At least what I've got, clearly was meant for a very Warm and very light type with probably blonde hair, as all lip products are either too light even for me (Tulip is a gloss in a very strange milky colour which brings attention to any imperfections and creases, and pencil Light Nude is very light, Vintage Pink pencil is just boring light beige, quite warm and not pink at all) or straight up orange (Magnolia is lipstick in carrot with milk on my neutral fair skin and Cinnamon is just ok, but also kind of orangey red) on me.

Then, I got the new Tourmaline palette, which I was very excited about at first, I think colour story is nice, but I would not say I'm impressed with the quality, and later saw the reviews, that this one is not among the best. Also the package drives me crazy as it is impossible to open with fingers if you don't want to break your nails, so have to use some kind of sharp tool like knife.

I was hoping for a highlight and blush duo, but small bags turned out to have only sculpt & bronze duo, Light Gold in my case, which suited me well, as sculpt is really fair and cold undertone, but it may turn out muddy if you are not careful, and I don't use sculptors a lot, usually go for a CT duo more often and find it more universal and easier to blend. By the way, this Radiance duo comes in the same kind of package as the eye shadow, but it opens just fine, which makes me think the palette lock is probably broken.

Then there were eye pencils, in Precious Opal (good universal brown shade but I have a bunch of those) and strangely, Blue Sapphire - I will make use of it, since I have some blue eye shadow, but it just seemed like a weird combination to the Tourmaline eye palette, which makes me think that whole bag is a bit random.

So in the end, I will only be using eye pencils, somewhat Radiance Boosting Palette, but I don't love it, and somewhat Eye palette, but I have to keep it open, because I really can't put that much pressure on it each time I would like to use it, and I'm afraid it might dry out (the sparkle shade specifically).

Which leads me to conclusion, that I really should have just purchased a blush duo and a lipstick in a more neutral mauvy shade and and eye palette in Pearl which has better reviews than Tourmaline on sale and I would get more suitable products for the same price tag... Well, it was probably worth a try - the process of unpacking seemed interesting at least!

Disappointing: half of the colours are very transparent and have little pay off even as swatches (not talking about how they look on the lid). I loved the previous Blood Lust palette and I had much hopes on this one as a universal nude shimmers range, but metallic shades in Blood Lust are way better. I only liked the Bath house shade - it is quite unique and good quality.
