Mostly did not love it
I was curious to try Wayne Goss products, but was not sure what to choose, so I jumped on the Surprise bag opportunity immediately.
Unfortunately it came out to have more misses than hits.
Firstly, I'm very fair but neutral skin tone with dark hair, and got the bag labeled Light. At least what I've got, clearly was meant for a very Warm and very light type with probably blonde hair, as all lip products are either too light even for me (Tulip is a gloss in a very strange milky colour which brings attention to any imperfections and creases, and pencil Light Nude is very light, Vintage Pink pencil is just boring light beige, quite warm and not pink at all) or straight up orange (Magnolia is lipstick in carrot with milk on my neutral fair skin and Cinnamon is just ok, but also kind of orangey red) on me.
Then, I got the new Tourmaline palette, which I was very excited about at first, I think colour story is nice, but I would not say I'm impressed with the quality, and later saw the reviews, that this one is not among the best. Also the package drives me crazy as it is impossible to open with fingers if you don't want to break your nails, so have to use some kind of sharp tool like knife.
I was hoping for a highlight and blush duo, but small bags turned out to have only sculpt & bronze duo, Light Gold in my case, which suited me well, as sculpt is really fair and cold undertone, but it may turn out muddy if you are not careful, and I don't use sculptors a lot, usually go for a CT duo more often and find it more universal and easier to blend. By the way, this Radiance duo comes in the same kind of package as the eye shadow, but it opens just fine, which makes me think the palette lock is probably broken.
Then there were eye pencils, in Precious Opal (good universal brown shade but I have a bunch of those) and strangely, Blue Sapphire - I will make use of it, since I have some blue eye shadow, but it just seemed like a weird combination to the Tourmaline eye palette, which makes me think that whole bag is a bit random.
So in the end, I will only be using eye pencils, somewhat Radiance Boosting Palette, but I don't love it, and somewhat Eye palette, but I have to keep it open, because I really can't put that much pressure on it each time I would like to use it, and I'm afraid it might dry out (the sparkle shade specifically).
Which leads me to conclusion, that I really should have just purchased a blush duo and a lipstick in a more neutral mauvy shade and and eye palette in Pearl which has better reviews than Tourmaline on sale and I would get more suitable products for the same price tag... Well, it was probably worth a try - the process of unpacking seemed interesting at least!
Awful
I took a chance to try something from Wayne Goss. The palette isn’t great. The dark shade (03) was hard to blend and kinda stood out with the rest of the shades. The lightest shade (01) wore off before I finished my eye look. The eye kohl’s are nice, but nothing extraordinary. The lip pencils are nice but don’t match what shades they described (one pencil said mauve but wasn’t even remotely mauve but a light pink) the lipstick smelled very chemically. The gloss is like every other gloss. Gloopy and chemically. The shades didn’t suit me. They were horrible orange/pink. I don’t understand why three lip pencils and two eye pencils in a mystery bag?? The bronzer palette is nice but when only two shades of bronzers? Why not a bronzer wnd blush. Really wish I spent my money some where else. This was just boring and bad shades.
Beyond my expectations!!
I had initially received the incorrect shade bag, but the Beautylish team reached out almost immediately and sent the correct shade bag. Thank you Beautylish team for your amazing customer service. I was so excited to swatch all of the products, and they are absolutely gorgeous. Such a terrific value.
Awful colour combination !
I appreciate this was a ‘surprise bag’ but why on earth the most severe eyeshadow palette (Pearl Moonstone) was put into a surprise bag for light skin is an utter mystery to me. The only looks you can create with it are blue or grey deep smoky eye looks, which with pale skin and light blue eyes make me look like I have been thumped in the face. So unfortunately this palette will be going into my ‘never used’ bottom drawer. They then teamed it up with the lightest and most insipid pale peach lipstick which looks terrible on me. And to add insult to injury, 2 of my lip pencils and 1 of my eye pencils arrived broken and every time I try to sharpen them the inner part falls out (must be broken in several places). The cheek palette is nice and the lip gloss is ok. But I had hoped to get more items that were wearable and I’m very disappointed that 3 pencils aren’t useable. It has however taught me a very valuable lesson ……. ‘never buy a surprise bags again!
Fantastic Surprise!
I've been wanting to try Wayne's products for a while and finally took a chance on the surprise bag, so glad i did!!! Anazing value and you get a lot of different products to try out, way more than i expected. Excellent initiative by the brand 🙏
Happy surprise bag
Its a real surprise bag as there are so many products which exceeded my expectation. I owned only one WG's palette before order this bag so every item in the bag is new to me. The eyeshadows was the palette that I want to order initially but at the end I opt for the latest one, Tourmaline. I am so happy to have received Imperial Topaz as my 2nd one and the colour story is of good fit to my preferrence. Lipstick was the second item I want to try and am super happy to find not only lipstick but also a gloss as well as the lip liners trio and the eye kohl pencils in copper flame and percious opal. The face palette is a plus although it looks a bit light for me, I love to have the chance to try out variety of products form one bag. it is a good deal for those who want to try out WG's products. Cheers
