Beauty Product Reviews

Wore poorly with skincare

I have rosacea/ majorly dry skin. I needed a good, simple moisturizer to wear with treatment serums. This felt great going on- light but effective. Then about an hour later I realized it was rolling and pilling!

Nice cleanser, definitely over priced.

Pros: Mild/gentle Removes makeup ok (works better as a step 1 double cleanse) Fine for most skin types except extremely dry A little goes a long way

Cons: The price is absolutely absurd for what is a good cream cleanser. Not very hydrating. Doesn't remove all makeup alone. In a jar that takes up space on my vanity, allows air/water in, and demands me to stick my fingers in each time I use. Enough with the jars! Terrible packaging.

I won't repurchase because of cost/packaging. If this had a lower price point and better packaging, maybe. But there are a million other cleansers at half the price that work just as well.

Got this in Lucky Bag, absolute junk/garbage

Worst mascara I have ever used. Very wet formula took forever to dry and caused smudging. Formula weighed down lashes, even when curling them first. Wand is basic. There are about 10 other mascaras I can think of that do a better job than this.

Fantastic

My skin: Dry/combo, prone to redness, sensitive (can't handle lots of foundations/skincare). Pros: color doesn't oxidize significantly or garishly. coverage is sheer (allows freckles to come through) but even. It blends well, doesn't emphasize dry patches/pores. Gives a fantastic glow that almost negates using a highlighter. Wears well, without primer lasts about 7 hours (on my dry skin). With my Hourglass primer lasts about 10 hours. Never looks cakey.

My new HG foundation!

Holy Grail Foundation

I got a sample and OH MY GOODNESS!

My skin has never looked more natural, luminous, glowing. No glitter, sparkle, shimmer whatsoever. Just a gorgeous foundation that wears very well. Doesn't emphasize pores, but blurs them. This completely eliminated any need for a highlighter.. This is now my new staple foundation.

Big things come in little packages.

My only grievance is that the colors are so similar to each other that it's really not very much of a range. I was hoping for slightly more contrast so as to mix my shades and really use this to carry me through all four seasons. I will need to add to this to get more colors that will work with tans, etc.

That being said, I like this product a lot. It's super easy to work with. A little goes a long way, it sheers out nicely, and is buildable. It truly blends seamlessly with the skin. As long as the color match is perfect and it's applied with a light hand, this is definitely foundation that tricks the eye into thinking it's skin.

This is living with me forever!

It does EXACTLY what it says it will do, without any perfumes or fragrances, weird oily residue, or stinging. I LOVE this. I wear contacts and this doesn't irritate my eyes at all. It's super gentle on my dry-as-hell skin.

The most beautiful blush I have ever owned

Where do I begin?! The glow, the slip, the perfect peach shade that so beautifully mimics a sunny flush. This blush wears very well (7+ hours with primer). It blends easily (I like to use my fingers) and melts right onto the skin. It maintains a gorgeous luminosity WITHOUT sparkle, glitter, or shimmer. It honestly looks like natural skin.

I will absolutely repurchase this and any other Kevyn Aucoin blushes.

Perfect warm peachy-pink, packaging issues

I LOVE this lippie! Here's why: 1. The color. It has the perfect amount of warmth to go with my NC15 complexion. 2. The wear. It wears very well and gives good coverage. It does emphasize dry patches, so make sure you prep your lips before hand.

Here are issues I have with it: 1. The price-point. At $32, it's on the verge of being overpriced. I bought it as a luxury, and so far I'm pleased with it. But I don't know if I'll be going back for more CT lippies at this price on the regular.

2. The packaging. The tube is just a plain gold ribbed metal tube. It honestly reminds me of Estee Lauder's cheap gift packaging. I'm not impressed at all. My lippie doesn't even close all the way- a defect, I suspect from the manufacturer. It slides down, but doesn't snap shut and leaves a slight bulging gap on the side. I'm definitely afraid of dropping it in my bag and having it pop open. With other higher end brands (Guerlain, Givenchy, YSL, etc) the packaging is worth the price because I never have to worry about lip explosions in my makeup bag (Givenchy is my fav, because you have to pinch the bottom tabs to get it to open!). CT needs to go back to the drawing board on that one. A cheap gold tube isn't going to hack it in $30+ price-point. Again, it's not enough to make me return it, but it's enough to make me rethink repurchasing it.

On a separate note, this was my first purchase from beautylish, and I couldn't be MORE pleased with the beautiful packaging they did. From the handwritten note to the perfect wrapped-with-a-bow boxing, it was a pleasant surprise. I will absolutely shop with them again!
