Beauty Product Reviews

Nice light lotion but esspensive…

This is a nice lotion built around fermented ingredients which is good at adding extra hydration to the skin and gives a little bit more than just the feel of water. I enjoy especially that it is made without relying on hyaluronic acid for its hydration binding properties as I find hyaluronic acid to be a bit of a double edged sword especially on skin that is perpetually dehydrated as it mostly binds hydration to itself and not the skin. And also because you find hyaluronic acid in so many products and you will rarely need more of it anyway… This contains several good and in reality more hydrating ingredients that actually also adds hydration to the skin.

The price though… I felt I gasped before buying this in February of 2022 as it then was 159$. Now its 199$! In all honesty I’m not sure I would shell out for this at this new price point given this is not the type of product that revolutionises your regimen. More like a good alternative if you like to switch things up once in a while. But you can get the same hydrating effect from products with a lot more modest price point. There is nothing revolutionary in this product to warrant such an increase in price anyway…

Great setting product for dry and mature skin!

This is such an interesting and also from my perspective a very longed for type of product I am no longer a make up artist since many years so I cannot attest to all the different function possibilities of this product even though I can tell this can be very versatile. Nor how it may differ depending on skin type or how it plays with all forms of foundations and so on. But what I can say something about is how it works on drier a bit mature skintypes and how I find this to be a lot better than a loose powder for setting my makeup to avoid it from separating or becoming flaky during the day…

For me I normally prefer to avoid powders or use them extremely sparingly as they tend to make my makeup deteriorate faster as my skin absorbs whatever moisture my makeup contains throughout the day. And as powder sort of does the same the end result is not cute…

This product with its unique patented Upsalite technology instead holds on to the moisture but still makes the skin look less shiny wherever the product is applied. Which is ingenious if your problem is surface dryness but you still would like to sport st least a partially mattified look.

Now as I have dry skin I usually do not use full coverage foundations as the heavier a product is on pigment the more drying they tend to get on drier skin and the coverage just gets too full also if that makes sense. A k a I can get enough coverage with a tinted moisturiser. But I may need a bit more coverage in certain areas and this product makes it so easy to achieve the appearance of that and helps tie the base products together really well. I even feel my pores look less prominent with this product on top.

Now for application the term less is more is very fitting to this product! And it’s easy to go overboard as you cannot immediately see the full effect of this on application. There is instead an element of trust that needs to be applied as the full effect of the product does not show until the tiny “sponges” this consists of begins to swell up and create it’s fine mesh over the skin to smooth it out and hold the hydration at the surface but still make the skin look matte. It’s quite amazing once you get the hang of it and realise how this thing works.

I prefer to put this on with a sponge. And I just dot the sponge lightly in the product (do not swirl or swipe on a lot of product to the sponge) and then slowly press it and pat it on to the areas of my skin where I want the effect of it. Like on my forehead, around the nose, upper lip and chin and sometimes in the lower side of my cheeks.

I too made the mistake of using too much in the beginning and then it very quickly can become a silicony feeling sliding mess. But with the correct amount it is nothing short of amazing. Also I find that pressing and patting is the preferred method, especially with the universal shade and if used as a mattifying product on top of foundation. When you try and slide or buff the product it can probably fairly easily begin disrupting your foundation and other products. But when softly pressing the tiny amount of product needed this works perfectly as an alternative to powder for especially drier skin types but my guess is also for oilier skin types with surface dryness as it gives a mattified look without the feel of it, if that makes sense… I’m sure with good technique you can also use brushes or fingers or whatever tool with this product but it is absolutely most easily applied with a sponge using the round or flat side of it.

It feels so soft on my skin and I don’t feel dry or shrivelled up all day. Instead the skin looks a bit plumped up like from hyaluronic acid. As this helps hold on to moisture for the skin throughout the day instead of depriving the skin of its moisture while still maintaining a matte look on the surface.

I really love this product and do hope it will get the true hype it deserves!! Personally I find most use with the non coloured version (universal) but the coloured ones work well too especially if you want to adjust some discolouration around the nose or you just want to use this product alone on naked skin on selected areas. If one wants to use this alone as a foundation I think it’s important to still be very light handed and not try to achieve any kind of fully coverage but keep application very sparingly. ❣️

This is the bronzing brush of my dreams!

I have been a fan of Sonia G and Wayne Goss who I think both have contributed to making the Japanese Fude tradition more accessible to people all over the world and also helped taking these traditions to new heights by adding to it a new level of usability by picking up on newer make up techniques making the practice of make up so much easier also for people who are not educated make up artists, but actually in my opinion to both them and amateurs alike. And that is a skill in itself!

Sonia has really outdone herself here with her amazing ability to create brushes that are so super soft but without being just soft but also with some firmness to actually be able to spread and diffuse product perfectly. And not just be a phloof…(which I sometimes feel some of the softest finest haired fude brushes can be. Lush but not very useful when doing everyday makeup.

This has the most perfect size and feels great in my hand and has made me step up my bronzing game a lot. And really made me go back to powder bronzers again, which I abandoned for a while partly due to not really finding a brush that fitted my needs, This brush does the job for me and it doesn’t matter if it is a problematic formula or a perfect bronzer. This diffuses everything to perfection and makes layering a breeze.

It is the perfect mix in between a fluffy roundish brush and a fan brush which makes this so versatile and amazing!

Can’t love this brush more. So I already have bought several of them!! Just perfect.

Simply perfection!!

These are so nice! They are soo nice! So versatile, useful, workable and all over sublime! Wayne Goss sure knows his brushes! I also love that you can hang them upside down when you wash them. Saving up now for a second set. As these will be used here everyday!!

I have yet to have come across a brush from Wayne I do not love as they are all very very good. These are different in the sense that they are not just super soft but they also have a bit more “denseness” which gives you more control on application and also more efficient blending.

The shapes are great for hooded eyes which a Wayne often tries to cater for in his videos. And they sure help also a less savvy make up user as they do a lot of the work for you with both placement and blending. So if you are a beginner - these are a very good place to start if you want to try out some Japanese brushes.
