Beauty Product Reviews

Best eyeliner I’ve ever tried

I’ve use the number of Wayne, Goss brushes and lipsticks, but this is the first time I’ve tried his eyeliner pencils. They are unquestionably the best eyeliner pencils I’ve ever used. They go on like a dream, but don’t smudge. I don’t know what dark magic this is, but I love it. I have the Deep Amethyst and the Rich Hazel, and they are extremely deep and pigmented. Almost black, which is what I wanted. I am not sure how they would look on an extremely fair person but for me they were perfect.

Finally: my holy grail foundation

I’ve tried literally dozens of foundations in the last couple of years. My skin is dry, ultra-sensitive, and I have rosacea. The least hint of irritating ingredients or fragrance breaks me out. And I won’t use a product that has been tested on animals.

Every foundation I tried, including some that cost three times what this one does, just floated on my skin, separated, and caked up pores.

This is a miracle. I buffs into my skin and evens out all my redness and never cakes or separates. At the end of the day, it looks as good as when I put it on. And it doesn’t irritate my skin at all.

I’m in love.

Works perfectly but triggered rosacea breakout

This product was incredible at dissolving makeup and left my skin feeling soft and clean. Sadly, on day 3 it triggered a pretty bad breakout. I have rosacea and this is something I have to deal with, rather than a criticism of the product itself. But if you also have rosacea, proceed cautiously.

Returned with regret.

Serious problems

I was expecting to like this, given my great experiences with The Ordinary and NIOD. And it has made my lips smoother, and did so immediately.

The problem is the smell and extremely bitter taste of this product are literally nauseating, and after one full week of twice daily use despite that, my lips are chapped and dry. If anything they're worse.

Finally, the warning to wash hands after using freaks me out. I'm putting this on my LIPS, and I'm supposed to wash it off my hands?

In short, yes, it dramatically smoothed my lips, but didn't hydrate or heal them. It's bitter. It smells awful.

Clumped up in bottle

This worked pretty well under liquid foundation, which I rarely wear. I bought this in March, used it twice, kept the bottle tightly closed in a dark closet... and just today, three months after purchase, it's a big gummy blob in the bottle. :(

Left skin dry, tight

I'm afraid this moisturizer left my slightly dry, sensitive skin tight and dry. It's basically worse than no moisturizer at all. I really wanted to like it.

Easy to blend, really lasts

This beautiful color could have been patchy, but instead it's beautifully blendable. It lasts all day, which isn't easy since I have teary eyes. I'm going to order more colors.

I'm embarrassed to admit I ordered these brushes ten seconds after they were available. #addicted

The brushes are beautiful, soft, glossy, and did I mention soft? SO soft!

I used them for contour, blush, bronzer, highlighter, and finishing powder today. (I don't normally wear them all, but the brushes made me.)

Everything went on as beautifully as possible. Then when I was done, I decided I should blend everything some more, because did I mention how soft these brushes are?

All that said, the handles look a little cheap.

As good as the hype

Beautifully natural, soft, and subtle. I've never used any kind of contour other than a touch of bronzer, because it always seemed so fake looking. This is what a contour product should be: a hint of soft shadow.

Easy to apply, creamy, could last longer

Overall, this is a great lip pencil. It goes on easily and doesn't pull at my lips, which tend to be extremely dry, especially in winter. It also didn't appear drying even when used all over my lips, although as I use lip pencil in combination with a balm, that's tough to judge. Still, some pencils do still dry my lips even with a balm.

The only negative is that it only lasts around 3 hours, even if I don't eat or drink anything. In addition to lining my lips, the main reason I use a pencil is greater wear time, and I don't really get that.
