I have had this beautiful palette since Christmas and it RULES. Stunning pigmentation, universal shades, pleasantly stable consistency and classy packaging! However, I see so many reviews on different websites that this is 'too expensive' or 'not worth the price'. In that vein, I decided to do a little bit of digging on this beautiful AND cost-effective gem:
Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow Singles are $30 for .07 oz. These eyeshadows are .04oz. which stands at a little over 17 dollars per pan of eyeshadow, of which there are 12 in this palette. Even if I round down to 17, 17x12=204. Current price = $204
Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder is $44 for .11 oz. The amount you receive in your palette is actually .14 oz, which ends up being 56 dollars in total. (Now we're at $260)
Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder is also $44 for .11oz. The amount you receive in your palette is a staggering .17 oz, totaling $68 dollars of product.
The grand total for all these products ends up being right at 320 dollars if you don't round down any of your calculations, using individual product pricing per unit. Do you feel like you're getting a deal yet? Because you are. This is a stunning purchase, and is just as much an indulgence as it is an investment for any serious makeup artist.
Holy 'bleep' the quality & colors are off the charts! Every color can be used all over the face! Blendability is beautiful & all those popular contour palettes out there right now are missing the mark! These colors mimic a real, suble, natural contour. I can actually wear shimmer on my cheeks w/out my eye wrinkles being illuminated! If u have mature skin just say no to becca highlighters & say Yes! Yes! Yes! to Kevyn Aucoin! So sad this is limited edition! I will def be buying more of his stuff! Worth every penny!! :)
This is a fabulous value (which it is) because it contains The Essential Eyeshadow Palette's #1, #2 & #3. Plus the Celestial and Sculpting Powders. A $262 value (assuming full size products --- which they look like to me (I could be wrong). They blend like a dream. I have yellow undertones and fall into the light/medium foundation shades (2Y07 @ Sephora Color Match) so all colors work great for my complexion.
My favorite palette of the moment... Wish the applicators were replaced with a nice brush though... For the price I would have liked a Kevyn Aucoin brush... But the products in the palette are wonderful !
I just recently got into KA after I tried his Art of Contour Book II... I loved how the eyeshadows blend easily and the colors / neutrals are so flattering. I think the palette is worth every hard earned penny. Forget the limited edition cheap palettes from other brands. You only need this and the By Terry palette.
This has got to be the most creamy dreamy pigmented eyeshadow I have in my Arsenal. I didn't think it could beat out Viseart but I have to say that it did. The shadows go on like butter with no effort in picking up product. No fallout, creasing and they blend like a dream. I have a very cool undertone and all of the shades go fabulously with my skin. I have mature skin and is always concerned about products accentuating my fine lines and I have no problem with this palette. Highly recommended.
Unfortunately Beautylish can't ship the KA range to New Zealand at this time, but having seen this palette here I really wanted to try it and it was well worth the trouble I went to to get it. The shadows are all so classic and complementary and as others have said, they blend like a dream. The highlight and contour powders too are finely milled and sit just as beautifully on more mature, as well as younger skin. The tiny applicators are perhaps the only disappointment, but since I rarely use the brushes that come with palettes anyway this wasn't a serious blow.
I have to echo what everyone else has said about this gorgeous palette - the colours are incredibly pigmented and seamlessly blendable - perfect in every way!! I have used and loved Kevyn Aucoin's line of products for many years now and am not surprised that this palette completely and totally lived up to my expectations!
