Beauty Product Reviews

A daily must have.

I LOVE this Pomade. It is so, so long lasting, and there is such a broad range of colors that you can really go for any brow look you like.

I'm always afraid of having too heavy a brow, personally, I think it comes from years of over plucking in my youth, and just being used to having thin brows as a result. I chose to go with a fairly light shade, Soft Brown, and it just looks so lovely. I use an angled brush to trace a thin outline of my brow, and then fill it in with the left over pomade on the brush, and then with the powder duo from Anastasia. I really feel like this product helps create the perfect brow to frame the face.

Brow Game Changer

I really, really love this product. The product line's color range is perfect, in my opinion. I've converted several friends to this Powder Duo and I've never seen a situation where we couldn't find a perfect color match. The level of pigmentation is really great; you can do a nice, light fill in or build a more dramatic brow depending on what look you're going for. I'd recommend this to anyone and everyone!

Wanted to love it, but there are some issues...

I'm fairly new to Lush despite years of my BFF singing its praises, so after having a couple of great experiences with skin & body care products, I wanted to try out some of their cosmetics.

I bought Lush Colour Supplement in both Jackie Oates (the lightest option of all), Light Pink (self explanatory) and Light Yellow (also self explanatory).

I really wanted to love this product because a) I have naturally dry skin, so less is more for me when it comes to foundations, b) I'm finally reaching a point of acceptance that less is more when it comes to coverage products that could settle into what I'd like to think are my wrinkles that don't actually exist ;)

So, Lush recommends you blend this product with a moisturizer for more of light tint, or use straight up for more coverage.

I tried both suggestions and unfortunately, while the colors were nice and subtle, something that happened each time for me was a LOT patchy settling of the product into my pores, and I don't really consider large pores to be a problem of mine. The second issue is that this product separates really noticeably when dusted with any sort of setting powder (I used Lush's Emotional Brilliance translucent powder). It left my nose looking chalky and dirty.

I read everyone else's great reviews of the Colour Supplement, so I thought maybe something was wrong with *my* skin, so I faithfully exfoliated, moisturized well, and discontinued the translucent powder for a couple more days of trying it out, but it just never really looked good.

Conclusion: I think this will be something I'll use again but only on super light makeup days, using extra moisturizer, applying the supplement sparingly, and only using liquid/cream blush. It just doesn't seem to work well with any powder product at all, at least for me.

As far as the color selection, Jackie Oates was my favorite and most light and natural looking, Light Pink and Yellow were okay.

Super versatile brush for liquid and powder eye defining products

Okay, so I'll be the first to admit that sometimes I use products and brushes for what could be called "off label use" - but hey, who doesn't like to dab a little bit of the perfect shimmer eyeshadow on their freshly glossed lips for that extra dazzle?

As is the case with this brush, it really is a versatile go-to, which I strongly believe is worth the price. (Also, all Bobbi Brown brushes are made with natural hair from the soft underbelly of a goat, or so the legend goes, and are guaranteed for about ten years of use.)

I use this brush to create a delicate shape for my brows using Anastasia pomade and then brush in my Anastasia brow powder duo. I ALSO use this brush with my Bobbi Brown long wear gel eyeliner, because it is thin, angled, and creates the perfect, delicate wing. Its shape and lack of flimsiness gives me a lot of control, and with fast drying eyeliners, it's really helpful to avoid wing disasters in the first place.

This brush is probably one that I would take with me if I were trapped on a desert island with only a limited kit of makeup ('cause, you know, gotta have brows and liner on point when search and rescue arrives)!

Super Refreshing, Non Drying, Creamy and Restorative + Legit Exfoliation

I bought a tub of Lush Ocean Salt upon the recommendation of a friend who knows her scrubs, but as someone who definitely lands on the dry end of the skin type spectrum, and who works hard to stay hydrated and moisturized, I was slightly hesitant at first to apply large grains of salt to my skin.

However, I was persuaded to give it a fair chance when I mixed the product up a bit and saw the buttery blue mixture beneath the salt - and I'm so glad that I did! The salt began as a firm exfoliant, but as I massaged the product in circular motions, it gradually dissolved into the avocado and coconut butter mixture, and left my skin feeling deeply cleansed, fresh, and above all, very soft and well moisturized.

I really love this product and use it about twice a week, and am happy to report it actually seems to be more gentle than the Bobbi Brown buffing grains that I had been super committed to previously. I still plan to keep both around, but if you're looking for exfoliation plus moisture all in one, this is absolutely a product that will meet those needs!
