Do you use eyeshadow base? Oh, and I only patting the shadow over my lid to increase the colour of it :)

Yep! But what I think it is is the brush I'm using. It isn't as dense as a brush I should use to pack colors on. I picked up the MAC 239 so hopefully this helps. But thank you!

I can't help you, because I don't have any MACs brushes ;( But I think if you use a brush like that: http://maestrobrush.pl/37-14-thickb... it will be ok :)
