It is a very nice look; however it isn't a smokey. A smokey eye essentially starts dark at the lashline fading upward to a lighter color ( most usually black, brown, and then light brown or tan or something). Think smoke to fire, as Alma says. The keys to a successful smokey eye are blending and the liner. Your blending has to be so smooth and seamless, that you can't tell where one color stops and the next starts. The liner needs to be a good quality, smudgable liner. I take the liner and line my upper lashline like normal, but with no wing. Then I smudge it out and upward until there are no harsh lines.
Smokey eyes do not have winged liner, and remember to smoke out your bottom lashline, just not to the same extent as you lid and stuff.
Just a few tips and I hope that I was of some help.:)))
