You may find "poodle like" curls if your holding your hair on the iron too long (25-40 seconds) depending on hair, this is when they become literal curls. I know the same thing happens to me so I started holding it for only a few seconds (10-15 seconds) and they become really soft and nice. and you don't even need to brush through them! :), I know when I do that it just makes the curls look really flat and frizzy! hope this helped! :)

I'm only holding it 15-20 seconds Chelsea (with the curlers).
I think I'm going to have to buy a wand or the heated rollers, I think my barrels are too small.
