Even if it is free I'd suggest buying product. the employees have to meet a minimum and instead of doing the makeover they could be trying to sell stuff to customers coming in to purchase. To me, I think it's the right thing to do. it is still a service they are providing for you and should be compensated. I would just go to a counter that you enjoy their makeup and despite what their policy is buy 50$ of products

Hah, I might buy something they use on me if I like it, but spending $50 on stuff just because I got makeup done or will get my makeup done is something that I wouldn't do.

I agree with Sarah, maybe because as a makeup artist I'm biased, but those girls and guys have a commission/sales minimum they have to meet in order to retain more hours. I know at the MAC counter and store in my town it's a 50 dollar minimum purchase. I've never had my makeup done at a store or makeup counter, I always do it myself, but it seems rude to just get your makeup done and not buy anything, because those employees get that sales commission from your purchase, and it is a service they're providing. Again, I'm probably MUA biased but that's how I see it
