SO, ever since I can remember my skin has been suuper oily, along with some acne. recently my skin has been getting SUUUPER dry, and I'm breaking out more than I ever have before. I have this painfully dry, cracked spot right under my nose and it hurts sooo bad. I have noo idea what to use for my skincare routine, or what foundation to use because its been looking so terrible and clinging on to my dry spots.

Clean with a very gentle moisturizer once or twice a day (cetaphil is ideal) and MOISTURIZE as often as you can!

I would use vaseline to help with your dry spots. as for foundation, I don't know... :/

And ever since my skin has been dry I switched my facial cleanser to a natural gentle one by neutrogena, and using my everyday pretty heavy duty moisturizer by cetaphil

Do moisturizing face masks 1-2 times a week , ideally one with oatmeal and/or yogurt.

Use a face mask that is 1 tablespoon of olive oil and honey. Then wash your face as usual.

I used vaseline on my lips and it made me break out all around my lips , so I don't think I'm going back to that haha, thank you though!! 😊

Don't use vaseline! Cetaphil makes great moisturizer that won't break you out. Raw unprocessed coconut oil will work too.

Thank you guys! I recently bought a mask for oily skin at the body shop, and now I'm so mad I can't use it! :(
and thank you again I will definitely try some moisturizing masks out (:

Wash your face with something that has benzoyl peroxide, and you might want to go to the dr and ask for an antibiotic prescription. It helps tons!

Yeah I've never had a problem with cetaphil breaking me out, but lately it feels like it's not working at all! :(

And make sure to moisturize a lot (I don't think it really matters why moisturizer you use as long as you use it correctly) but don't use too much because it can actually dry your face more.

Cleanse & moisturizer twice a day. Make sure your cleanser has minimal fragrance and also is creamy enough. I recommend bare minerals purifying facial cleanser for your skin type! Also Josie Maran argan oil to help rejuvenate the dryer areas. Walk into any sephora & ask for samples they will gladly help you out!! ❤

It sounds like you're going thru skincare overload.
I'd suggest something as natural as possible.. n super mild.. my skin broke out last wk n I've been using a 3-n-1 oat n honey scrub from the body shop. wet oat is soft so eventho its a scrub its not irritating. I just rub it in a bit n leave it on. shower, n rinse it off at the end if my shower. n use a super simple moisturizer after. until you can get back go a healthy moisture level..
pure lanolin is good for cracking skin. they sell it in a liquid form at whole food or local health food store.

I have super super dry skin too!! I use the Simple line. It's probably the best I've ever used and the results are amazing. Before using it I couldn't wear foundation or anything because my face was so dry and it would cling and be patchy. But now my face is really soft. Drinking water helps too. Drop the soda or juice. Plain water is the best. Your skin cells need it.

Hi I'm a cosmetologist! its very unusual for skin to change its type (from oily to dry) like that. are you on a medication? what has changed in your skin care that was followed by this dryness? if nothing changed then its very important to let your derm know about this. it could be a sign of something else being wrong. either way, make sure your derm gets a good look at those dry spots.
in the mean time I really think it would be best to stick to cetaphil and a natural moisturizer like coconut oil. dry skin can get worse if youre using too many processed products with preservatives in it so the more natural the better. stay away from make up as much as possible and stay consistent with your routine and products. changing things up too much confuses your skin so keep it simple.

Dina- I was on an acne medication but I stopped in may. I was thinking that's why I'm breaking out a ton more..but I have noo idea where the dryness comes from! the only product I have changed in my skincare is my face wash..to a more gentle and natural one by neutrogena. but this was AFTER I started seeing my skin get super dry! other than that, I have changed nothing. as I woke up today I noticed the cracked spot under my nose is better, I used a lot of the cetaphil cream moisturizer.
thank you soo much!!
