I do both, but I don't use box color. I only use Sally's semipermanent or get it done professionally. If you want a permanent color use a color from a Sally's store or something close. Box dyes have too many harsh chemicals that are really bad for your hair! If you haven't done it by yourself before, most definitely ask for help!
