I need help picking out a good foundation. I heard great things about Lancôme but I'm not sure what they have to offer that's a good choice. It's expensive so I want the best quality for my bucks.

Before you lay down the money see if you can get a sample first and test it out at home. I know in another post you mentioned your skintone NC43-44 range. I'm right behind you with NC45 and what's annoying with many of these high-end brands once they get into deeper shades they either do a great job getting it right or its a horrible mess. You don't want to be a perfect match in store (thanks to tricky lighting) only to come home and find out you look a mess. A sample will allow to see in natural light how it blends with your skin...it should blend seamlessly with your skin. Another thing you have to be on the look out for is oxidizing...gives you the dreaded orange cast to your skin.

Most brands get the browns wrong. that's why I used to hate drug store so much.. I tried the queen collection. too red too muddy. its obviously working for someone cause its still out there n more power to queen latifah but it don't work for me. even loreal, I can't find a lumi shade to match me. I have to mix so much. so I stick with a few brands n then I get the guts to go out n fight the good shade matching fight again every few years. its definitely a fight. lol.

Try Estee Lauder and Clinque questions as well. They usually have a broad spectrum when it comes to use brown girls.

I don't know what it is ladies with these cosmetic companies not getting the right match or understand correct to match out skin. I think it's a waste of money to have to purchase two or more to mix together just to get a shade match! AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!!😂 SMH!

I've never tried Lancome but...
Decide what look you would like to achieve (matte, dewy, satin, etc), and what foundations will work well with your skin type to achieve that look. How much coverage you need/want.
Figure out your precise matching color (probably the hardest part) and
The best way to do that as as the ladies said, is to sample away!!

Naomi I have that MUSE H foundation and I don't like...I mean it's ok...nothing to write home about lol.

Lol. I see.
I'm more dry I know you're oily.. do you think its better for either?.
Dec 25, 2013
Candi D.
Yeah I agree with Ciara. I've used all my makeup forever foundation and it was just OK. The coverage is just OK...nothing to write home about is right. For the price I feel like it's so many other high brands around that price point that has better coverage and can blow makeup forever he out of the water.

Thanks for telling me. I'll look at other hd's then.. I read a crap load of reviews before purchasing too. so I'll check some other brands. any hd suggestions?
Dec 25, 2013
Ciara H.
No the formula is kinda greasy to me....that's the only way I can describe it. I have heard great things about MUFE face and body foundation Naomi...esp if your dry.

Naomi S.
Mehrons?. that's a good price.. I haven't seen that I'll have to google it.
if its kinda greasy on you ciara, maybe it'll work for me.. I'm definitely not oily unless its the dead of summer record heat days.
I just REM'd I got a sample!. I think. let me check.
I can't even think of any other hd's right now other than smashbox. I'm having a brain fart.
I've heard good things Bout face n body. I'm going to try to Mac one first. but that's not considered an hd right?. one of the MAC artist was telling me she uses the illuminator n the spots she chooses n blends it out with face n body on top.
