Big Cosmetic brands have a tendency of stealing ideas from up and coming artist. They give no credit to the original artist and make million$ off thier ideas. Why not just hire the original artist if you love thier work so much. Another reason why I refuse to purshace from Kylie. Vlada is sueing Kylie Cosmetics for copyright?as she rightfully should.

Tiana, yes exactly! Money just brings out the worst in people, so stop hating on Kylie! Michelle Phan got sued, but in the end, they are both famous millionaires and the people that sue them are not after their products, they are after their money! 😂❤️

Being rich and famous doesn't give you the right to steal someone else's art. if you're that rich, pay for the art. anyone who's ever created something that is original to them should understand that honestly.

I hope vlada wins the case. so many big brands do this to independent artists instead of hiring them (zara did this recently too).

and Tiana, she is obviously suing because she has proof in her favour. I don't think this is only about money. and also, nothing wrong with it being about money, someone made money with their art. this is mostly about giving credit where credit is due. artists hold their creations very dear to them.

just to give you an example, if I a copy a text and hand it in as an essay for one of my courses at university, even if its a very small part of a text and I don't cite my sources, I will be expelled...

Tiana if shes steals images and ideas than One is right to be sued. The pic above that I posted of Vladas driping lips from August 12. Vlada is known for the dripping lip effect from way back. So yes mam I do know what I'm posting bc I DID my research honey. I'm guessing both you an Tasha are NOT artist and have never experienced someone stealing your art. Please do your research before talking out of your ass. Sadly Kylie Cosmetics has a name for stealing ideas. Example, Shaaaanox came out with a palette, soon after Kylie Cosmetics launched a palette that looked excatly the same.

The dumest arguement is that one should not fight for thier art.

I agree that Vlada absolutely has the right to sue and I support that decision 100%. If you don't fight for your art and your rights as an artist then you're essentially saying your art isn't worth anything. This isn't about money as much as it is about the artist's right to their art.

Also I think it's silly to say you'll never sue anyone for any reason. If a doctor or nurse gave you poor medical care that resulted in more pain and suffering you wouldn't sue them for malpractice? It's your right as a patient to receive proper medical care and it's an artist's right as an artist to own their work and get paid when someone uses it.

As an artist that pisses me off so much. I've had my art stolen for profit, almost triple what I was selling it for, and it's the worst feeling. No credit was given. I even confronted them and all that did was get me blocked lol. I unfortunately didn't have it copyrighted, since I just sell my items locally, and so I couldn't legally take action and it was horrible. It's the worst feeling in the world when someone thinks you art is good enough to steal and profit from, but not good enough to pay YOU for it. Kylie has tons of legal advisors for her company and waaaay more money than a small artist would have wanted, she should have known better and she deserves to get sued for it. It's such blantent rip offs as well. It's not like it was something that just as easily could have been a mistake or an inspiration. It's exactly the same, as if they looked at vlada's photos as they were at the photoshoot.

Vlada deserves to be known for her work, and deserves to be paid for it. Kylie has more than enough to pay her and I hope she does the smart thing and just pays out right what Vlada deserves. It shouldn't have to make it to court.

And tasha, Michelle Phan got sued for using copyrighted music, which she always gave credit for and at the time YouTube copyright rules were not very clear, as they are now, she had no idea what she was doing was against the law until she got sued, and she paid off the artists, and gave an apology.

She has a very high chance a
of wining the case. All power to Vlada for standing up and fighting

Also just for reference, if you don't believe vlada, this photo is before Kylie even announced she was making a makeup line (which was august 17/18th 2015) and vlada has been doing drippy lips, especially metallic drippy lips on her IG since 2013, and has been published, she worked closely with Pat McGrath and has been featured in magazines. It's definitely stealing. She definitely has cause and evidence to support her action to sue.

Vlada most likely will not win the case. Kylie did not still the exact same thing. It looks very similar but because it's not exact she will most likely loose the suit.

Stealing is never ok...hope the Artist wins. But even if she doesn't hopefully enough word spreads so she can get credit!

I think this is kinda stupid, imo. Her designs aren't that creative and whether or not she copied them who cares.

Tiana nobody said any words that should affect children, however even if they had, children are not allowed on this app.

I feel like if it was the other way around, someone not giving credit to Kylie Cosmetics it would be a bigger deal. I hope the artist gets credit for her work/inspiration.

I've heard more colourful words come out of a 5 year old at the mall. I don't believe M G. voiced her opinion anymore than you did, Tiana. I don't think harm was done.

Any who, I hope this matter is set right. Regardless of who is at fault.

Even though Kylie chose not to credit her, it doesn't make it right. Kylie literally profited off this girls work. That profit deserves to be in vlada's pocket, not Kylies. Vlada worked hard. Kylie didn't. End of story. Vlada posted several posts about Kylie stealing from her and obviously got no response, so she had to sue. If Kylie had messaged her and apologized and given her credit and a portion of the profits, from future and past sales, then it would be fine. What's sad is that Vlada had to resort to legal action. Either way, it's not cool of a "respected" business owner and creator. Makes me wonder if any of her ideas are her own and how many other artists she's stolen from, besides shanxo, lol. It's also shady business work and it shouldn't be tolerated. Especially when it's a girl who is in such media spotlight with tons of thousands of impressionable girls watching. I hope no young people think it's okay to plagiarize or steal an artists work without proper credit and pay. Artists have rates and fees just like any other business. Nobody expects a chef or a home painter to do their job for free, and so people pay them and they get their names credited as well. If the person who hired them doesn't pay or give credit where agreed (or if they blantently stole - can you imagine someone taking credit for a four course meal you spent hours slaving over to get it just right? And them not paying you or giving you any acknowledgment at all?), they have the legal right to sue them, and they deserve that money and public understanding of what that person did was wrong, legally and morally.

And nobody under the age of 13 is allowed on BL. Its not like anyone is cursing up a storm on here, and the words used are words used in songs on the radio and on prime time television, intended for 13+, just like BL.

Why is a lawsuit a poor thing? its a legal way of forcing soneone to pay you (money, dues, credit, anything owed) who otherwise would not have. do you prefer to let people get victimized with no way to defend or protect thenselves? should a victim of a crime just shut up and let bad people win? do you realize how traumatizing it is to have your creation, a piece of you, stolen and used without so much as a chance of consenting to that mistreatment? do you fantasize about street justice and killing or hospitalizing people over money and recognition instead? what other option is there? I really don't understand this completely irrational response to the word "sue". especially in these circumstances.

M G.

Lol I don't understand what the hell you are typing Tiana. But ok. For reference
Lawsuit: a claim or dispute brought to a court of law for adjudication
In other terms sueing someone is the LEGAL way of fighting for what is right. So agin all power to Vlada. And for the girl that said Vladas designs are that creative. Well apparently they were creative enough to be stolen by Kylie Cosmetic lol ;)

Police have no authority in a civil matter. again, victims deserve justice. there is a giant wall between church and state for a very good reason. it protects the rest of society against crazy and dangerous people who think like you.

Omg I'm crying!! I don't think it's Godly to steal from people either, but what do I know, I would have voted Hilary or Sanders right? #proudCanadian #yessAleena.

And yes in fact there is a HUGE difference between religion and the state. if you choose not to be involved in suing people then thats fine, but that doesn't mean that other people have the same religious views (I never learned that suing was a bad thing in school though, just saying) as you and that doesn't mean they are not worthy either.

Religion aside, which this website is full of people from all around the world, not all of them are Christians, and it's not a good thing to assume it.

Vlada has every right to go to court now, and she deserves to be paid and properly credited. That's what we're discussing, not religious beliefs or politics. Like I said, Kylie had the chance to be a good person and recognize what she did was wrong, to give vlada credit and to pay her for her work. But she didn't. I was on IG today and apparently Kylie is blocking anyone who mentions vlada on her posts, even in a nice way. That's acknowledging the situation and choosing to ignore it, and essentially ignoring a plagiarizing copyright law. I think we should all move on from this thread, I truly don't think this was supposed to end up this way and it wasn't supposed to be a debate, just a "look this is wrong be informed about this popular brand owners poor moral choices. Make your own decision if you want to support her still" kind of thing.

So am g, sorry for adding fuel to the fire so to speak, I really appreciate you making this thread, I wouldn't have known otherwise and I was considering buying from her website for a specific gift, but now I'll be finding a different brand to buy from at least until Kylie makes things right for vlada.
At least she'd getting recognition from some sites and I saw this morning that mtv shared it, so at least Kylies main audience is getting the story and people are trying to get vlada in the spotlight where she deserves. Hopefully it works out for her, who knows she might even end up the new graphic designer for Kylie cosmeticcs or another cosmetics company and get paid and credited for her work. :)
