My skin never looks good with anything on it and I properly take care of it. There's always something wrong. Either my peach fuzz gives it a white cast or is quite noticeable, or the foundation itself won't "infuse" if you understand what I mean, it just sits on top of the skin and it gets quite shiny and slick. OR (the problems never end) it makes my blackheads around my nose stick out.
Skincare:
Walgreens Grapefruit Acne Facial Scrub
Thayers Witch Hazel toner
Garnier Skin Active Moisture Rescue Cream for combo/normal skin
Every once in a while a Freeman Black Sugar and Charcoal Mud Mask

Makeup:
maybelline baby skin primer
Maybelline Fit Me M&P foundation
Maybelline Fit Me M&P powder

I have combo skin.
please help.
Thank you!

I absolutely hated the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer. It never looked good with any foundation on top of it. I like the Loreal Magic Perfecting Base as a primer. Try by starting with a small amount of foundation, and only layering more foundation where you need it. It will help with foundation laying on the skin better. Are you using a brush or beauty sponge to apply/blend foundation? I like a sponge, it blends in with the skin beautifully.

I use a brush for fuller coverage because I have a lot of impurities

How old are you Brook A? If over 18, try dermaplanning.

I'm under 18, are there any other things I could do?

And might I add, I can't see a dermatologist right now and are there cheap options.
And Rima V I looked up dermaplanning anyway and I definitely wouldnt let that someone with a scalpel anywhere near my face. Thank you, though!

I think you could stand to revamp your skincare routine. I also don't care much for slick, siliconey primers like the babyskin.

First, ditch the scrub; you don't need that for daily use and it's probably doing little to nothing for your acne. Grab a gentle cleanser like Olay's Gentle Clean foaming face wash or Simple hydrating cleanser.

I can't stress enough how good a well formulated salicylic acid product can be for problematic skin. I have yet to find a brand that has the formulary variety of Paula's Choice; the slightly higher investment is worth it.

Incorporating a moisturizer with spf can also serve as a base for your makeup. Cerave makes one, Olay makes some decent ones, there's tons of them on the market; you just need to figure out what you're looking to get out of it.

If peach fuzz is a problem, use a facial sponge.

Leuca S: the scrub has 2% salicylic acid in it. I've tried a variety of applicators from brushes to sponges, the hairs stand out so much.

I may be wrong but I believe when salicylic acid is in the cleanser it doesn't actually have enough time to do uts thing rather than in a product that stays on the skin over night. Clean and clear has lots of salicylic acid moisturizers and treatments and is very affordable.

Have you ever thought about waxing or shaving? I know lots of girls who shave for smoother makeup application. Nibbles on YouTube has a video about how she shaves her entire face because it makes her foundation stay on longer. I also love using spring hair removal tools, I can sit on the couch watching TV and run it over my face to get all the little hairs on my cheeks and moustache area. It was also like 2$ on amazon or daiso. Albinwonderland introduced me to the tool and it's amazing.

Also to make sure it doesn't stick the hair up when you're doing foundation make sure to use downward strokes, especially with a brush that can cause the hair to go straight upward.

Use an electric eyebrow razor to shave your peach fuzz off your face. Its painless and it works! Also, try a setting spray. There are cheap ones at the drugstore from wet n wild, maybelline, milani, hard candy, nyx and la girl:)

Unless your cleanser is formulated at a specific PH (it probably isn't) and you're leaving it on for a long time (you shouldn't leave a cleanser on that long), the active ingredient may be at a concentration that would seem effective, but it's not in a formula that can allow it to function properly.

If the peach fuzz is long enough to be that much of a problem, removal is your best option.
