@Arielle K, Definitely invest in a blow dryer with a diffuser that comes with it. Try not to use serums because they will only weigh down your curls, unless you flat iron your hair. Check out cream gels, because most gels when you scrunch your hair will leave it crunchy and flaky (ew). I personally use Paul Mitchell's fast form cream gel. It smells great, and it leaves your curl look healthy. Also again trim your ends, I can't stress that enough to keep your hair look healthy, and if you do flat iron please please please use a heat protectant!!! Also keep your blow dryer, flat iron, and your curling iron or wand on a decent temperature! Don't crank it up to 500, cause you can burn your hair. When you purchase your hot tools read the pamphlet that it comes with it because it most likely comes with a temperature guide for your hair type.

I was thinking of starting to cut my own hair, because it would save money, and it seems like every time I get a haircut, it gets screwed up. So I was just wondering if I should keep looking for a good hairstylist, or if its worth cutting myself. Thanks!

@Donna C, as long as you use professional color (at Sally's, Cosmo prof) you should be fine. You can use a semi permanent color and use rinses in between which will just refresh your color, or you can just use a permanent color. Again professional color is the way to go! Sally's sells color and developer (processes the color) for a really good price. You may think box color is all fine and dandy, however it has metallic dyes in it which can make your hair dry and break off. If you feel comfortable using box color that's on you. But I only support and suggest professional color.

@Henna A, If its done by a professional the damage should be minimal. I would not recommend putting someone with bleach under the dryer unless the stylist knows what their doing. Because bleach makes the hair swell when you put it on, and the heat could really damage and fry it (ew). Some lighteners or bleach are supposed to go under the dryer because it'll process your hair faster (less work for the stylist).

@Ellie A, I think its crap in a bottle! Lol. Tresemme just released a hair mask that I would totally recommend! If you wanna splurge try its a 10 hair mask.

@Heather V, You have great eyebrows by the way. I have no idea what my deal is with looking at people's eyebrows lately. Lol. You're heart shaped.

How can I style short hair without using heat?

I have really curly thick hair and I want to straighten it but I am not sure how to. Every time I just use a flat iron it stays straight but all the layers separate and I look like a cave man

@Dulce E, I love the lipstick you're wearing in your picture by the way, so I hearted you. Lol. I hear ya with the dry hair, especially during winter that's everyone's complaint. I would go to the salon where you got your relaxer, or if you didn't get it done at a salon I would go to one and look into conditioning treatments. Also check out for your hair type olive oil. Put it on your ends, and just your ends. You could also check out its a 10 hair mask, its a little pricey but its amazing, and the size is good too, plus it smells like heaven. Lol. I would do treatments once or twice a week depending on how dry your hair is. If you're on a budget I would look into Tresemme hair mask. People think that Tresemme isn't good because you can buy it at Walmart and other drug stores. Tresemme IS a salon brand, and they sell it at Sally's as well as other beauty suppliers. So check it out. Also I would look into biotin vitamins. You can buy them pretty much any grocery or drug store even the dollar store. Biotin is what's going to help your hair grow, nails, and help your skin too.

@Lizzie M, I wouldn't suggest cutting it yourself at all. I don't even cut or color my own hair. Lol. Ask your friends for recommendations on a stylist if you like their hair. I would also Google search your local salons and read the reviews. Doing hair looks easy, but its so complicated, well it can be, but its fun too. Lol.

@Lace S, styling hair without heat is possible if you're into curling (or scrunching) your hair.

@Ciaran W, You have a really cool name by the way. I would invest in a really good heat protectant spray. Look for one that's going to hold as apposed to a serum spray. When your hair is damp put a serum in your hair, then blow dry it with a nylon boar round brush. What that brush is going to do for your hair type is pull it straighter and keep your layers in tact as well. Then also look into a nylon boar paddle brush for when you flat iron your hair. Section out your hair before you flat iron it, spray on your heat protectant, then run the comb through the section you just flat ironed immediately! Its gonna keep your hair straighter. Also ladies if you don't have thick or ethnic hair I do NOT suggest purchasing a nylon boar brush, because that brush is made for that hair type only.

I've recently had bleach highlights done and the ends trimmed but its still really split and dead, what do you suggest?! X

Thanks.

Have you ever tried the oops color on hair? I colored my hair and hate it. I was wondering if it was good to use. And it won't make my hair look fried or anything?!

@Lizzie M, you're very welcome. I hope I helped.

@Chantelle H, I hear ya. After my roots get touched up I'm a little dry too. I would suggest a moisturizing conditioner. I personally use Ion (you can buy it at Sally's) intensive hair repair. Bleach and or lightener can dry out your hair. If you're on a budget and not a hair product snob like me (I am, and its ridiculous how crazy I am with it too) check out Tresemme hair mask. They just released a keratin smooth line, which I purchased by the way but haven't used yet, and I'll let you guys know how it is. So give that a shot. Also of you really want to splurge check out its a 10 keratin leave in treatment, its awesome and it smells like heaven in a bottle, but it is on the pricey side. One more thing, take biotin vitamins, they'll help your hair grow and it'll make your hair healthier. You can put all kinds of product in your hair, but if you take vitamins on too of that you'll have great hair. :)

@Victoria H, Yes I have and I like it. Its affordable, and great to use. Depending on what you did to your hair it'll fix it. If you bleached your hair and its brassy, just purchase a purple shampoo and use it every other time you shower. It'll take the brassiness out of your hair in no time. If you did just a basic one color, just color over it, that's what I would do. But if you feel you want to buy color oops go for it.

I colored my hair brown then after a while I did highlights but it just looks gross. I want to go fully blonde. If I got just a blonde dye would it cover the brown up too?

Jan 6, 2013

Victoria H.

And if I did the highlight last night how long should I wait to do the blonde?

Thank you!
And wow, PA's hours are radically different from Washington's. it's 1800 here.

@Victoria H, I would go to a professional and get a full head of highlights.
