My natural hair color is black (not dark brown) and I've always been scared to dye it for fear of looking ridiculous, but I'm ready to take the plunge.
I want to do a nice purple with blue undertones, and I want to know if you guys know any good bleach brands.
I have a neutral beige complexion, my hair is medium short and I'm wondering if I should do a full head or ombré.

I think that color might work with your skin tone if it was ombré, but I think you should go with a color that is a little darker and do an ombré

Thank you @sophia I was definitely considering an ombré. I just hope my hair can handle the bleach.
@patty I was thinking of trying the brand Artic Fox I've heard really good things about them, do you have any experience with that brand?

Camille, I also have heard great things about attic fox, and want to try it, but I have Sally's a few blocks away and I have used ion brights since they came out, and I like the results. If you are going to do it yourself I suggest not to go blonde in a single process, at least let your hair rest a week and do deep condition treatments between bleaching. Use a blue based bleach with vol 20 peroxide. And do protein treatments every couple of months after bleaching your hair. If you can't get olaplex like Hailey suggested you could use ion booster step 1 you will need a bottle for every two ounces of bleach and just an envelope of step 2.

Thank you ladies I appreciate the input! You have all been very helpful.
I'm definitely going to a salon to get this done. I don't quite trust myself lol
