Hm.. I didn't know that.. then I apologize for any confusion I may have caused.. I figured Hong Kong was in China so.. they had to abide by their laws.

@ARAMITHA :The issue is not being harmed or not, is HAVING THE CHOICE to be tested on or not, this is basic respect to life.

@Sarah L: What you say is true, but you can ask them directly you they do animal testing themselves, or they employ/ contract 3rd party to do animal testing. I emailed to 6 cosmetic brands directly to ask & only 1 got back to me (tarte) because they don't, all others are probably ashamed and not dare to say they do (NARS, Benefit, Lancome)

To all of you who want to take action, find the sample letter in this link & send it to the brands, let them know you care & it makes a difference: http://www.leapingbunny.org/whatcani.php

Yes, they do test. It's sad because people still purchase their crap even if its at the expense of a defenseless animal. There are plenty of companies (who have amazing products) that refuse to test on animals. Why not support them instead!?

Ok first of all...if we were not so into make up...which we are...all these companies wouldnt be thinking about or doing animal testing. What we are into...is in demand..and unfortunately humans lives are more valuable and important to the world than animals. I want to make sure I add...that I absolutely LOVE all animal life. It's precious...I like them better than humans. BUT companies are not going to risk the horrible possible outcome of their product on a human. That is why they use animals. It's horrible I know...but we are the ones making make up such a big deal...I love animals... But I also love my MAC. But yes...to answer the question, their mother company tests on animals so they probably do as well...just as all companys most likely have some other business test their products for them.

For anyone saying "I'd rather they test on animals than humans" I would just like to add that, if a company is making their products with INGREDIENTS than can potentially cause irritation, rash or anything else along those lines, even if they 'pass' animals testing, do you still really want to put those products on your skin? I know I sure wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that the ingredients put into my cosmetics need to be put through vigorous testings on multiple types of skins (I.e. bunnies, monkeys, cats etc.). The fact is, there are MANY different companies that create amazing cosmetic products that can be highly pigmented and of great quality WITHOUT containing harmful ingredients and WITHOUT needing to test them on animals. You can still have the same high quality products that you can love without hurting any animals for the sole purpose of 'beauty'. All it takes is a little time and research to find these companies.

Can anyone recommend a good foundation that doesn't test on animals? I have found a really good skin care range that doesn't and want to slowly replace all of my makeup with cruelty free products. thanks.

You guys should shop illumasqua. They have a similar foundation to Mac studio fix, there products are made in labs as a pose to factories in China, they don't test on animals, their manufacturers don't, and they don't trade with China because of the testing laws. There make up is really similar
To Mac products if that's the kind of look you like.
