I was both in the past and both are very fun colors but both are also high maintenance. Red will be less damaging overall. It can be super hard to remove though, so take these things into account before you dye. And go to a salon for the initial transition, once they get you to the color its easier to maintain on your own. But from my experience I recommend always going to the salon if you can afford to, especially with blonde. Red is easier to do on your own in my experience where as blonde is easy to mess up very quickly. Good luck :)

If you're going blonde it doesn't really matter what you use, its going to do some damage to your hair because its stripping color from it as well as nutrients. That's why I recommend going to a salon for blonde particularly because they can lighten you gradually and evenly with minimal damage. Every time you lighten your hair its going to be damaged in some way sadly. That's why its hard to maintain. It gets yellow and orange so you have to tone it or go lighter for it to look good sometimes.
Red or dark colors isn't as damaging because you're depositing color rather than stripping it. Red fades and washes out fast which is why its hard to keep up with. But in the end it is far less damaging than blonde. Just some more info to help you make an informed decision.
