Coconut oil is actually really great! I dont look at the moisturizing benefits but ive noticed my hair is softer & i recently cut about 4-6 inches off my hair & its grown a lot in a short time

From my research and personal experience, I find that the longer that you leave coconut oil on your hair before washing it out, the better. Coconut oil helps with the swelling and contracting our hair strands do during shampooing. Coconut oil will fill up your hair fibers and keep the action of contracting and swelling from being so extreme on the hair strands. If you're going to use coconut oil as a treatment, I say do it overnight. If you're going to use it everyday, you may not need to keep it on overnight. Try both methods and see which one your hair prefers more. Also, I see that you're using the refined version of coconut oil. I've heard of it working well in the hair, but it will take a little longer to see the benefits versus using unrefined coconut oil.

I personally don't leave it over night...I just don't find it's necessary for me an hour or so is just fine for me but sleeping with it on certainly wouldn't hurt

Just run the container under hot water to make the oil a liquid and massage it into your scalp and hair

You can just put the oil on. For my face, I like to put it on when my face is slightly damp so that it can absorb well. For my hair, I always put it on last after applying moisturizer to "seal" it in. Coconut oil, for most people, can absorb into the hair strands pretty quick and nourish it from the inside, giving your hair shine on the outside.

I prefer organic coconut oil in general. It doesn't have to extra virgin, but if it's organic, you're okay. You want coconut oil and not all the added pesticides or whatever else that will block the benefits of the oil itself.

does it have to be organic? or just extra virgin?

Extra virgin organic is going to give you the best results...I haven't actually seen any in the store that wasn't extra virgin

Just 100% coconut oil. It's really a solid and has to be heated to become an actual oil.

does coconut oil have to be extra virgin or can it just simply be coconut oil to get the full benefits?
