Hey. My nan died almost a year ago. We were best friends and I miss her everyday. I'm allowed a tattoo for my 18th this year but struggling to know what I want and where. Please give me some ideas, I would really appreciate. I have had my idea on some the infinity symbols for a while but not sure. 💜

Get something that reminds you of her and I would say get it on your shoulder

I think you should personalize it more instead of asking us for ideas, maybe think of an item or photo that's symbolic of your relationship with her.

A tattoo especially in memory should be completely personal to you none of us know what your nan was like or the bond you had so maybe think of a special memory of her that you have or an object that will always remind you of her. As for the place I love foot tattoos or on the ribs but it's all personal preference I'd just say have a long hard think about what you want!

I agree with Olivia. Think of her favorite things or things that you two had in common and make it into something unique.

I would, but I can't really remember anything anymore. I'm starting to forget it all.

Why don't you look through some pictures were you close?

I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for some suggestions, if you didn't like it you wouldn't get it on your body :)

I don't have any pictures, and yeah I was the first one (other than her) to find out she had cancer and spent everyday with her until she died.

Hmm think of conversations you had or anything you remember talking about or you could have a list of her qualities

Or just go with the infinity sign because you've already thought through that idea.

All I really remember is she LOVED Egypt.

I'm sorry for your loss. I agree with Olivia. Maybe talk to your parents or someone else that was close to her aswell to bring up some memories.

Then you could get the three pyramids tattood on your foot or something with an infinity sign next to it if that's something that will remind you of her.

I looked up Egypt tattoos on pintrest and found this pic of letter symbols *not sure if this is accurate or right. Maybe you can get her name in these symbols?

Doesn't have to be a huge idea. My grandma is a gardener and has the loveliest lily flowers so I have those incorporated with my grandfathers favorite plane on my shin for them. I don't suggest the shin,or the ribs for a first tattoo. Arms and legs are best because honestly it's going to suck if you can't sit through the pain and have an unfinished piece. Keep that in mind. My boyfriend is a tattoo artist here in Pittsburgh and infinity symbols have been done a billion times over. The piece you choose just has to be something that you think of when you think of her. If you really wanted you could have her portrait done, but that would be very costly and time consuming, which is still worth it if that's what you wanted. Tattoos are an investment in both matters. A lot of people use Pinterest for ideas. Sometimes even by browsing you will find something that gets your brain moving and you may come up with something similar that's perfect. Good luck! And sorry for the loss.

Thanks everyone. And what I found this... It says 'nan' in hieroglyphs.

Looks great! That's something I'd get on my neck, wrist or foot.

That would be a perfect first piece that suits your memory of her. When you find a reputable artist they may even help you customize it into a memorial for her, it's kind of their job to be creative lol. So like if you wanted to add anything else to it like days or her first name, etc, don't fret because they can help. :) but I think this is a good choice for sure!
