Shaving that area can be quite tricky. I would recommend getting it waxed instead. It will be painful but its totally worth it!

Be sure the shaver you use is new and still sharp. and take shaving foam and special lotions after. dont shave it too often!! it irritates :)

Ingrown hairs are the WORST. Avoid this by using a warm-hot washcloth to gently exfoliate and open up the pores. I recommend doing it in the shower at the end of the routine. This way, the hot water/steam opens up pores and you will already be clean and exfoliated~ideally.

Anyways, (if it's been a while haha) I trim beforehand. Then, shave with the grain, not against! Keep your blades clean, take your time. I rinse the blades after each stroke. Never use a dull blade, your chances of cuts increases (NO bueno.) People sometimes make shapes...they have bikini razors at CVS. Go all the way, or leave a "landing strip." Whatever you desire (pun intended.) Cleanse thoroughly. Pat dry. Be gentle. Some ladies use dusting powders. You get the picture! Happy trails hahahah xxoo

I don't wax, I'm too afraid to get it too hot down there :/
I use my boyfriends electric shaver to get rid of most of it and then like previously stated, a brand new razor (I use one the has at least 4 blades) and hot water. Clinique makes this stuff called Post Shave Healer that is sold in the men's skin supplies. I put this on after shaving and it takes care of razor burn.

Wax gives the best results you can buy bikini waxs from supermarkets or chemists for like $20 but it maybe a bit difficult if you dont no how to wax. always exfoliate the area too to prevent ingrown hairs.

Shave in downward strokes, it will prevent ingrown hairs and it is the easiest way. Afterward just apply a light moisturiser/lotion and remember to take your time, you don't need to rush it!

I buy waxing strips you can get them at Walgreens/Walmart. It leaves a better result and hair doesn't grow back right away :)

You can always make your own wax by using honey & sugar :) if you mix them together (with a dash of water) then microwave then place I. The fridge to cool down and use some sort of "waxing strip" I've read it works great

If you're shaving, do NOT dry shave! It causes irritation and is generally uncomfortable and can give you horrible lumps. Make sure you use proper shaving foam x

I recommend waxing but not doing it yourself! I'm a beauty therapist and the amount of girls that come in that have severely hurt themselves due to home waxing is ridiculous! I even had to send one to the emergency room because she accidentally dripped wax 'in there'!! However if you do insist on waxing yourself stick only to the top where you can see clearly without a mirror. But I deffinately do not recommend it at home, shaving is the better option other than getting waxed by a professional!

I don't know if you but the most important thing is to shave down in the direction your hair grows. DO NOT shave up or opposite the direction your hair grows or else you'll be walking funny for a week. Loll But other than that it's not a scary experience but just take it slow and be careful in order to avoid cutting yourself. Also once you start shaving there, it's hard to stop because when it starts growing back past a certain length it's super itchy.

You just have to be careful after you've been shaving awhile it won't be itchy for awhile. just make sure you take your time and use a good razor!! good luck! :-)

In every magazine I've read they all say downwards so your hair grows back in the same dirrection which helps to prevent ingrown hairs but I go upwards and just make sure I exfoliate before and after to prevent them and I put whichazel (sorry my spellings probably a bit off) oil on afterwards its really good for ingrown hairs.

You could also use a salicilyc acid face wash for exfoliating and wash it off to prevent razor bumps and redness. works amazing. use it each time in sensitive areas like your bikini line.

I would suggest a razor that has four blades or more, for the closest shave possible. Make sure to keep your razor nice and sharp, you can do this by throwing away each time or putting it in baby oil until the next time you shave. I use conditioner to keep it silky and always make sure there is shaving cream or whatever on your skin while you shave. Take your time and it gets easier with practice.

I have a question to add to this. I am very prone to Yeast infections, I can't even use shower gel. So would using a shaving cream give me a yeast infection?

I haven't waxed before. But I definitely don't recommend depilatories. As in, Nair and etc.
