I went to Sephora after work and was sooooo excited. I finally going to buy some Kat Von D. This has been the holy grail for so many. I tried 66, 68, 70, and 72. 66 and 68 were too light, and 70 and 72 seemed the wrong undertone - at least according the associate. We also tried Urban Decay and I tried shade 12. The associate made me try 178 in MUFE which is my shade, but seemed really vague (in a bad way) about cruelty free/vegan status.

So I ended up buying shade 12 in Urban Decay foundation. I asked for samples of 70 and 72 of Kat Von D cause I'm praying that it looks okay in normal light. The lighting in Sephora is really dark for some reason.

I have a major case of the sadz.

i would defintely try the Kat Von D foundation in your own lighting at home, the lighting in all cosmetic stores is way off. That is the foundation i wear, and i love it. I am sure you will find a shade that suites you, you are probably just going to have to try out a few of them and see what you like. I was just at sephora today, and they told me that foundation was in super high demand so it is sold out basically everywhere right now...so grab it while you can!!!

It's my HG!! I was lucky enough to snag a backup!! so for now i am using up all my other foundations for daily use to work..

MUFE is not cruelty free =[.

I had this same problem with Kat Von D's foundation when I went to Sephora. Everything was either too light or too dark.

The darker shades there is a lot in stock. I'm gonna try the samples tomorrow. If I like em, I'll order Kat Von D online and return the urban decay foundation.

In her web chat she stated cruelty free. When I emailed sephora they said it's cruelty free. However, it's not vegan.

Urban decay uses palm kernel oil in their products. Not very cruelty free. Look it up.

Sorry, I dont understand. Isnt palm oil comes from a plant? How is that not cruelty free?

Palm oil is taken from trees that make up the habitat of Orangutans in Indonesia, and many other endangered species.

Oh my momma. Never in my life have I put on foundation and questioned if I needed to put on concealer. It full-coverage and very matte. I would not recommend for dry skin.

Veganbeauty - right!! When i go out wearing the Kat Von D foundation, I dont even bother with concealer!! Although my hyperpigmentation is never 100% covered - with this foundation, once blush is applied on my cheeks, you cant even notice i have marks! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this foundation!!

Kat Von D isn't vegan friendly or cruelty free, sorry. I looked it up just last week because I was interested in trying her lip stain since one of my friends loves it so much.

Soooooooooooooooooo greasy. I don't know if my skin produced so much oil because the foundation initially made my skin so dry.

@Brittany please share any info you have about the (lack of) cruelty free status. I was aware that it's not vegan, but it would be great if you can provide me info about its lack of cruelty free status. :)

I told you, look up palm oil cultivation. It contributes to the words biggest primate genocide. So sad what they do to those poor animals.
