Do you ever get to a point where putting on your makeup feels like brushing your teeth? Like you kind of just do it systematically without giving it much thought or effort?
I am definitely there right now, and am just a little curious to see what's inspiring everyone at the moment. It could be a song, a picture, a quote, a person, anything really. Also, what do you find helps when you are in a beauty rut?

When I get stuck in a rut I look at pictures online. Celebrities, Youtbe, just anything with color. And if the river runs dry I have my 4 yr old stepdaughter help me pick things out. Which is always fun !

I am uninspired at the moment...and when that happens I usually just take a bunch of eyeshadows and stuff I haven't used in a while and just play with it. I do it on a weekend when I have nothing to do and just go all mad scientist until I find at least one different look I like and use them in the next week. I have also used my seven year old as a muse lol...she must have studied color theory in another life because she can come up with some pretty good stuff I wouldn't have tried.

I'm in that annoying "lid, crease, outer v" rut and it's bugging me. QueenOfBlendingMUA inspires the hell out of me and I want to do fancy things with my face. My YouTube videos are boring the hell out of me right now because it's the same damn thing. I'll get an idea in my head and then I get to the point where I'm gonna do it, and then I can't get it ON MY FACE. Booooo.

I was recently (re: 4 hours ago) super inspired by xsparkage's new eyeshadow tutorial, it's super bright electric blue, and GORGEOUS! Made me want to go super bright with my makeup tomorrow. I feel like I get in a rut because I don't want to go too crazy with my makeup for going to class, because mostly nobody wears makeup on my campus, but I just want to go bright during this dreary midwest weather we're having.

I love how fabulous they always look! Right down to there finger nails.
& Another thing that I find always inspiring to me is my space, that area where I create looks. I always try to buy new products just so everytime I am going to do my makeup, I get excited :)

I started my makeup style with Goth-Lite, then I started aiming for period authenticity as years passed. The end result of that is a no-makeup-makeup thing I have going on, but I think the fact that I'm going for a Victorian/Edwardian styled face is a little lost on people. It worked better when I styled my hair in a Victorianesque way, but the 'do isn't stable enough for my job sooo....messy bun it is.
I've been looking to modernize the makeup look and make it a bit fiercer, and I've been digging the look in the new Anna Karenina movie to that end. Any suggestions are welcome, if someone has one.

My overall goal is to be a makeup artist one day. As for now, I'm in a rut. I'm still trying to figure out which way I want to go. I love the glamor look but I also love the natural look with a pop of color. My inspirations are in the magazines, especially the people on the covers. There makeup is so simple yet breath taking. I also like red carpet drama.
