Beloved by beauty editors around the world, Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum is a powerfully corrective facial oil that was born in California’s Napa Valley.
Drawing on her experience as a fine winemaker, winery owner April Gargiulo set out to create an all-natural, superpowered treatment that would address all of her skin issues—from fine lines and wrinkles to acne, lack of elasticity, and dullness—using the world’s finest natural, organic, and wildcrafted ingredients.
Expertly formulated with nutrient-dense botanicals, Active Botanical Serum is a skincare superhero that restores your skin’s balance, leaving it clear, even-toned, firm, and radiant.
Restore your skin’s radiance with powerful natural extracts sourced from the finest growers in the world. 22 nutrient-rich botanicals—like turmeric, nettle, avocado, and tamanu—stimulate cellular turnover, boost elasticity, repair skin’s moisture barrier, brighten, smooth, and protect against free-radical damage.
Each bottle begins with whole plants, which are formulated via a time-honored, highly methodical process that preserves their active nutrients. Vintner’s Daughter selects each botanical not only for its individual corrective effects but also for how it works in synergy with other ingredients.
When your skin is fully nourished, it becomes radiant, healthy, and protected from damage and inflammation. Active Botanical Serum penetrates deeply into the skin to deliver the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals it needs to heal itself. The dark Miron violet glass bottle filters sunlight to preserve the potency of the formula over time.
Active Botanical Serum can work on sensitive skin types because it doesn’t contain any artificial, potentially irritating ingredients. Sensitive skin will benefit from deeply healing, balancing vitamins D and K while magnesium will soothe and nourish the skin.
Just because you have oily skin doesn’t mean that you can’t use Active Botanical Serum. While it might sound counterintuitive, oil-based products like Active Botanical Serum work well on oily skin because it helps to balance sebum production. Oily skin will love the blend of antibacterial ingredients and high levels of Linoleic acid, which helps keep pores clear and balances oil production.
Acne-prone skin is also effectively treated with Active Botanical Serum thanks to ingredients like rosemary and lavender. Additional botanicals help prevent and lighten post-acne discoloration.
To activate your serum and help it deliver nutrients deep into your skin, apply it with Vintner’s Daughter’s signature Push/Press Method.
Start with clean, toned skin. Place 5-6 drops of the serum in the palm of your hand. Gently rub your palms together to activate the serum and evenly distribute it to both hands. Place your hands on both sides of your face and press firmly. Push the serum into your skin by repeating this technique on your entire face, neck, and décolleté. Repeat the entire process for 30 seconds.

First of all, some props for Beautylish. Awesome customer service, fantastic return policy, and lightning fast shipping. All around excellent place to shop.
Now to the product. For reference I've got sensitive combination skin with occasional hormonal breakouts. And I'm pushing 50 harder than the school bully pushes a nerd at recess. I used only this face oil for over a month. To be fair, I did not use it in the daytime due to the formula's inclusion of bergamot peel oil. It is highly phototoxic. Granted, sunscreen can remedy this, but I have somewhat sensitive skin and didn't want to risk it. For this price, it would be nice to see a FCF (furanocoumarin-free) bergamot oil used instead.
Regarding the price, I have absolutely no issue with it. One of my favorite face oils is Odacite's C for Collette which is $149....for ONE HALF ounce. Someone here mentioned May Lindstrom's Blue Cocoon. I'm a massive fan of that as well. But, if you're going to charge a premium it's gotta blow my skirt up like Marilyn Monroe over a subway grate. I'm sorry to say this just didn't.
On the plus side, this smells heavenly. If you are a fan of white flower scents, you will roll your eyes back and curl your toes. I also appreciate that it's a product created with real passion. Unfortunately, for me the results were just lacking. The only thing I can say is that it was moisturizing.
Did I see increased radiance? Not like I do with my C for Collette serum, which is 15% vitamin C. It didn't beat out my Tata Harper Retinoic Nutrient face oil, either.
Did I see increased cell turn over, did it handle discoloration such as post acne marks? Not that I could see. Certainly not as quickly as the Yuli Cell Perfecto PM I normally use for this purpose.
Maybe it's just a good "all 'rounder"? Considering the price I'd rather use La Belle Lune (.70 fl oz, $63) Kypris's Prismatic Array (1.5 fl oz for $150). Many people who have used this have stated they've been able to drop all of their other skin treatments and just use this. Not me. Not even close.
It's not even a particularly unique formulation or texture. It's labeled as a serum, but it is a facial oil. I'd point to the May Lindstrom Blue Cocoon here. You spend $180 for a fairly simple formulation, but the texture is brilliant. Melts into the skin and you use so little that with proper care and storage you'll be working on that jar for a solid year! And that's another thing...they recommend 6 to 8 drops of this?!? Most I ever need of any oil is 3 or 4!
To be clear, I don't think its a bad product. Replace the bergamot peel oil with a FCF oil and knock about $50.00 off the price and I might consider this again. Also, adjust those claims a bit. This oil is in no way as "active"or effective as a serum or oil with 15% Vitamin C!
As our beloved Caroline Hirons says, if it works for you "Crack On!", but in my opinion there are too many other products like this which are far more effective with much faster results at a fraction of the price.
I'm a pro MUA and decided to try this based on several other Pro MUAs recommended it under makeup.
Pros: a little goes a long way, safe for the under eye area, and as long as you don't use too much it works so beautifully under makeup. It fades the dark mark after a pimple or decreases the redness after an extraction faster than anything I've ever seen. Very hydrating, with a wonderful smell.
Cons: definitely clogs pores IF you're acne prone. Black heads, white heads, the whole nine yards. I notice all the clogs and stuff popping up within 24-48 hours of using, and it clears up immediately upon discontinuing. People who are not prone to acne don't have to worry about this, but as I have acne prone skin it was unusable for me. I didn't purchase my bottle here, but I ended up giving it to a friend who never gets pimples and he LOVES it.
This serum is the Rolls Royce of facial oils. I use it every morning for that lit within glow. I've watch my favorite YouTube Stephanie Nicole review this product and it gave me even more of a reason to give this product a try. I love it! Would certainly buy again!
I am so not an expensive skin care person (okay, I have the blue cocoon cream and that's pretty genius). I really am a fan of sunscreen, retinol, acid exfoliator, you know, basics. But this oil got so much real attention that I had to see for myself. Within a week of using it, both my husband AND my best girl friend told me my makeup looked great when I wasn't wearing any. I don't know the magic is, but it's lovely. Helps with tone, texture and evens out spots. And it just smells delicious. It seems like a lot of money for one thing, but if you can swing it, Vintner's Daughter makes a beautiful product.
I had heard a lot of amazing things about Vintner's Daughter from following both Caroline Hirons and Stephanie Nicole. When I found out Beautylish started carrying this and I could take advantage of their Flex pay, I took the plunge. And I am so beyond happy I did. My skin is combo, acne prone and extremely sensitive with rosacea so I was a little hesitant about how "active" this serum was. I use this product at night as my last step and I am waking up to toned, even, clear, hydrated and beautiful skin. Literally I am in awe, my skin has completely changed in just one week. I love this serum and I know you will too!
Ok so ill be honest..I bought this on a whim, I read every review and I always take the negatives way more seriously even when there is 10 good reviews for ever 1 bad. Im generally that super sensitive person that has a reaction to everything. I have been using Vintners Daughter since November 22. I wanted to wait to review it because I feel like anytime you get a new product you have new product love without really seeing if the product is actually doing anything. So after just over a month, Im blown away. In the mornings I used 2-3 drops mixed into my morning moisturizer. At night I use 5-6 drops, warm it up in my hands and press it into my face. I typically end up putting a moisturizer over it after that. I live in Arizona and it is dryyyy out here. I think if I lived somewhere with any form of humidity, I wouldn't have to use a moisturizer. Anyway- after just over a month- I have stopped using foundation all together. My dark spots/acne spots are fading, I haven't broken out at all. I was breaking out consistently prior to starting this, after about a week or so all of my breakouts cleared up. Initially I did not care for the botanical smell, but now I breathe it in before I apply it. My skin is more even then it has been in a really long time. After a month of use daily, I still have a lot left in the bottle. I anticipate the bottle will last 3-4 months total. You cant see through the bottle even if you hold it up to the light, but when I fill the dropper up, its still all the way full. Theres nothing more satisfying then spending money on something that works and will also last for a few months. I highly recommend Vintners Daughter.
Prepare to bury your face in your hand and let out a deep breath.
I have oily skin so I only use this at night, sometimes I'll put this above a toner and skip everything else. So far I see no irritation (somewhere Paula is screaming at me "just because you can't feel it doesn't...") and my skin and mind feels great after using this.
I love the way this feels on my skin, the dewy glow I get after using - the scent is wonderful! It really helps with my dry patches and sun damage. I have been using VD a little over a year now and cannot recommend it enough! For the first time in years I have gone out without foundation - it is THAT good!
I love the herbal smell of this serum. Unfortunately, this does cause me some irritation in patches and I break out into hot bumps. I took a month off from any type of products to see if I'm just using too much, but again, unfortunately as soon as I put this on i break out in a sensitivity rash. Which stinks because I truly do love the texture and smell of it. I might try only a drop in a moisturizer next after I let my face calm down... fingers crossed.
I did attach a photo of it just to show what happened.
Whenever I try a new facial oil, I always force myself to love it -- even if I don't see immediate results. This trickery is because I spent good money on a skincare product, so it better work! Am I right?! In retrospect, I have never seen a dramatic difference in my skin's appearance to warrant purchasing (or repurchasing) a product.
In walks Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum to Beautylish and my skin has never looked better. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a tester a couple months prior to its launch, and in those couple days the tester lasted my skin was glowing!
I decided to purchased this last week and I have never felt better about any $185 spent. My breakouts subsided, the redness in my cheeks are gone, and my skin is so soft I can't help but touch it!
I use to have 6 steps in my skincare routine (after washing my face) and now I have 2 -- toning and this incredible facial oil.
The first night I tried it, I woke up with the best skin I've ever had, and you will too! It's only been a week and I can't imagine life without it.
