100% Plant-Derived Squalane is a lightweight, non-comedogenic oil that is found naturally in the skin.
This treatment hydrates and restores a soft, supple texture to all skin types (including acne-prone). It prevents moisture loss with regular use. It can also be applied to hair to add shine and protect from damage.
Apply a few drops to your face after toners and water-based products as needed.
This product is considered safe for use while pregnant or breastfeeding, but it’s best to check with your healthcare provider first.
Squalane is compatible with most skin types because it occurs naturally in healthy skin. It is fast-absorbing and lightweight, making it a great choice for acne-prone or oily skin. Because everyone’s skin is different, we recommend patch testing any new product before adding it to your routine.
Apply it to cleansed skin after toners, serums, and other water-based treatments. You can apply another moisturizer on top if desired.
Yes, squalane is a safe facial oil that can be used for skin with aging concerns or fine lines and wrinkles.
You can use squalane as a stand alone moisturizer but for severely dehydrated or extra dry skin, it's best used when paired with another rich moisturizer.

I run both dry and sensitive for reference.
Squalane is a staple in all reparative formulations my Derm carries in their own line. Upon her insistence, I began to use it daily in my routine...only I was paying much more for it...lol No more, thanks to The Ordinary!
This is a wonderful way to bring antioxidants and hydration to your skin, even if you're oily. Squalane is acne-friendly and won't clog pores. Fatty acids help replenish moisture, adding to the benefits of Squalane, which will work to keep your skin's moisture barrier healthy. This works nicely directly on skin, but also mixed with moisturizer if you're running particularly dry.
Rather quick absorbing so it does work very well even underneath make-up in my experience. I would repurchase, recommend and gift this for certain. Yay! Huge savings on an spectacular skincare staple.
I am seventeen with combination skin, and very acne prone. This squalane product makes my skin amazingly soft without feeling heavy or causing breakouts. I had some dry spots on my forehead and nose due to overuse of glycolic acid (to dry out some annoying stress pimples), and the next morning, they were gone!
I've also used this on my hair, and.. oh.. my.. goodness. Nothing has made my hair feel so smooth and frizz-free. I'm a frequent user of hair oils, but none of them ever really helped, and they stunk up my hair of artificial floral scents. My hair type is thick and wavy, and gets dry and frizzy real quick. Before discovering the wonders of squalane on my hair, I'd use coconut oil and believed that I would have to bear with the heaviness and greasiness it caused. I'm seriously smiling as I write this, because of how much more I love my hair now. Thank you, The Ordinary, for making me feel quite extraordinary. ;)
I have never used Squalane before, but this stuff is amazing. Just a few drops and I cover my face and neck area. It just soaks into the skin and then you can layer up your normal moisturizer. My skin looks amazing!! And you can not say no to the price.
I love this product. I get dry spots, and in the evening I can wear facial oils, but during the day I need something that layers well under makeup. This is it. reduces flaky spots but does not cause my makeup to crack and break down. Just a couple of drops after my serum and prior to emulsion and cream/lotion. Not oily, and fragrance-free! This is part of my permanent daily routine from now on.
The Ordinary products are excellent for anyone who is just starting a skincare regimen like my daughter. She also had a consultation with a Beauty Advisor which really helped her figure out what her specific skin care needs were. That way she wasn't buying a whole bunch of products that she didn't need. She received Natural Moisturizing Factors which is a light but very hydrating moisturizer. The Plant Derived Squalane will not settle in or clog your pores but helps to lock in moisture to your skin. When she used The High-Adherence Silicone Primer she did not realize that it would make such a difference to her makeup application. Which was flawless, also it gave her the matte finish that she likes .The Glycolic Acid Toner, The Buffet & all of which we will do a separate review for. They are so reasonably priced that even a Student on a budget can finally afford skin care benefits that some luxury products provide. :)
I've tried alot of higher end Squalane and I go through this product as I add it to my moisturizers day and night! It can be used alone as well. I can't be more pleased than a I am with this product. It's great for all skin types and really does make your skin feel well hydrated and moisturized
Like some of the other reviews I have never used Squalane before, I will never be without this oil, it's very light weight and my skin drinks it up and leaves a very supple smooth surface and my makeup looks amazing and does not look oily, I also put in my hair while wet and my hair looks so healthy.. So many ways to use this heavenly oil.. If other oils seem to heavy for your skin do your self a favor and just buy it:)
It's a very light oil that really helps with moisture retention without weighing down my skin. I mix this & the rose hip seed oil & apply it at night after my retinoid. Really helps combat the flakiness that retinoids cause because I wake up the next morning with very soft skin!
Love this product. I use 7-8 drops at night on my face/neck as overnight moisture. In the mornings I use 3-5 drops as a base under makeup. My skin loves it-- it has definitely helped even out my combination skin. I've been trying different moisture options since I turned 30 (and if you are now in your thirties, you get this) and went through 2 rounds of the biossance samples. Biossance has a slightly thicker texture and the rose oil gives a really nice scent. The Ordinary has no scent at all, which I prefer for sensitive skin (although I had no issue with Biossance). The bottom line is I can't tell a difference in results between The Ordinary Squalane and Biossance Squalane, and The Ordinary is definitely more affordable. Hope this review helps any other girls on a budget who want the squalane glow--you can definitely get it with The Ordinary!
