Let me start by giving a brief description of both my skin type and skin concerns... First and foremost, my skin is SAHARA DRY (LOL one of the "perks" of living in Colorado). It is also pretty sensitive and reactive. My biggest skin concern is hands down the acne scarring around my chin and on the sides of my mouth. My next concern are the fine lines that have been caused by my overly dry skin (only 30 years old ;) so I'm hoping it is not age related LOL). With that being said... I use a great deal of moisturizer under my foundation to try and help combat the super dry/dehydrated appearance. I do not use a primer as most primers are loaded w/silicone and cause unnecessary breakouts and irritation. I also do not use any sort of setting powder, suppose I just haven't found "the one". Right out of the gate most foundations in some shape or form aren't going to work well w/my skin and require extra work to get them to stay or look like skin.
Now, on to the review of the foundation... I am on the more fair side w/warm undertones. I have to be careful w/some warm toned foundations as they can almost present a jaundice type look to them. This is NOT the case with 1B Ivory. It is a more beige/warm undertone and actually matched my skin pretty well w/all things considered. It's a hair darker than I would like, but as I mentioned above... my skin is a royal pain! I did not notice any immediate oxidizing of the foundation which I usually do due to the oils in my moisturizer. I applied one side w/a Beauty Blender, and the other w/an Artis foundation brush. Due to the acne scarring and a little bit more coverage needed I noticed the brush had a better medium-cover finish, whereas the BB provided a more seamless "skin like" finish (as it usually does). It blended easy and did not stick to any dry patches. I use a cream bronzer from Chanel, and a powder blush from Hourglass. Usually the cream bronzer applies smoothly on top of foundation but on top of this foundation it melted in like a dream! My blush applied just as beautifully which doesn't always happen b/c as I had mentioned I do not use a setting powder and when applying powder products on top of a liquid foundation can sometimes require little extra blending... but that was not the case w/this foundation. Right away I noticed with a full face of makeup that my face looked healthy, maybe even go as far as saying I appeared to be having a good SKIN day!!! It did not appear cake like at all, even though it provided a good deal of coverage, can we say MEGA WIN? My bronzer and blush looked pretty good at the end of the day. For me this foundation never made my skin feel tight or dehydrated, and you could not tell how dry my skin was underneath as you can w/almost every other foundation I have tried (and trust me, I've tried them all from drugstore to La Prairie). The only draw back for me which is a MAJOR draw back is the scent. If you are sensitive to scents you may want to ask for a sample of this foundation b/f the major splurge. It is very strong upon application and didn't really dissipate until the 3rd or 4th hour in which I could still smell it until I removed it but not as strong as the application. I will NEVER understand why these high end foundations sometimes include this grandma(ish) perfume smell in their foundations. When I smell it it does not make me so "oh wow, this is some high end stuff right here", it's more like, oh great... here comes a day of headaches with the occasional gag. :-/ To boot a lot of fragrance can irritate sensitive skin and compromise the skin's protective barrier. So as much as this foundation is absolutely beautiful and applies like a dream I have to decide if that is worth the price tag of a headache on the days I choose to wear it :-( My final thought and conclusion... with this price tag do I think everyone needs to run out and buy it? Absolutely not! It is gorgeous, so if you are addicted to foundations like I am and the thought of finding your HOLY GRAIL, then by all means... Indulge! It IS amazing! Have I found a better foundation than this with the hundreds I have tried? Honestly, no. My biggest piece of advice comes with a reminder that everyone's skin is different, and although it wore amazing with my super dry skin I cannot speak on the behalf of those of you with oily/combo skin... the team here at Beautylish is amazing, REQUEST A SAMPLE! ;-) As I decide if this foundation will work for me with the fragrance aspect, I cannot wait to read everyone else's experience with this magical foundation!!!!
I really wanted this to be the end-all foundation for me. I despise foundations for many reasons, but this one seemed to act more like skin care / tinted moisturizer with a special magical unicorn ingredient and matching special magical unicorn price tag. I was more than happy to pay the price if it meant it was 'the one.' Unfortunately, after trying 2 different primers and 2 different application methods, I found the results to be unwarranted for the price. It felt very nice and slippery but the results were not anything magical.
This foundation is absolutely gorgeous...Once you figure out how to properly use it. After going thru alllllll bajillion primers in my kit, changing up my skincare a million times, powdering it, not powdering it, using a brush, a beauty blender.... blah blah blaaah... FINALLY I figured out how to use this foundation and that it does NOT work well over primers... DUUUH, Tiffany, HEL-LO!!! It has amazing skincare ingredients in it... Therefore it should go directly onto the skin. LOL! Considering that I've been a makeup artist for over 20 years I should have picked this up a bit quicker... This clearly was not one of my finer moments. But, I have to say that I DO love the foundation and its lightweight, undetectable finish. It makes my skin look luminous, youthful and absolutely flawless, yet still like my own skin. The only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five is because of the fact that it shouldn't take people jumping thru hoops or standing on their heads to figure out how to use it... They should at bare minimum put up a recommendation to not use this product with primers and tell their customers that it works best applied directly onto the skin... Also, even tho I love the smell of Sisley products, this foundation is heavily scented and it doesn't go away... So, after a while the scent that was once enjoyable becomes cloying because its all over your face and you cannot escape it. It wears all day without budging on my very dry skin, and it does cling to dry patches... so, note that dry skinned girls... Exfoliate first. I think that's it... Is this my Holy Grail, Hero Product? Nope. But, its pretty. Will I buy it again... Nah. But I'll enjoy the bottle that I have <3 That's what makeup is about anyways... trying new things <3 xo
I received the email announcement of this foundation and was quite interested. I am basically happy with the foundation I've used for the past 12 years, but decided to check this one out. The price is...breathtaking, to say the least. I decided to go ahead and schedule a consultation and try it out. Bess and Melissa were invaluable in assisting me to choose a shade and they got it perfect on the first try (I have light skin with a neutral skin tone and red hair). I received my samples and was overwhelmed. You only need a very, very small amount to get medium-to-full coverage and it goes on very easily and blends effortlessly. I was also astounded to see that it looked completely natural, not cakey, heavy, or made-up-ey. The last full-coverage foundation that I tried from another cosmetic company was just too heavy and looked fake (that stuff does work well for a concealer so it wasn't a total loss). The Le Teint leaves a soft feel and finish on my skin, not oily, and it truly lasts all day long without the need for touch-ups. Perhaps the best thing is although the price is staggering, you need so little that it probably costs not much more than the foundation I was using and provides better coverage. Save your nickels up and give this a try, you won't be sorry!
I was so excited to try this foundation, I wanted to love it even I bought a $84 primer it so expensive, it clings on my pores & fines lines, it transfer a lot if you have oily skin don't even try it this is not the foundation for you, this is the most expensive foundation I have ever had & the worst!!!
I'm 61 years old and my skin is considered mature, it is combination/oily: large pores and occasional breakouts. I so wanted to love this product as the benefits sound like just what I need. While it takes very little to cover, is easy to apply, and blends well into my skin, within hours, my face looks like an oil slick. I'm not talking a radiant glow but out and out glaring sheen. I do not mind the price, as a little goes a long way, but only if it works for me. Sadly, I need to keep looking.
I have incredibly oily skin with some fine lines that I am starting to notice. I'm 40 years old and also have some pigmentation to cover. I apply this with my fingertips mainly to add more coverage and also to not waste a drop of this expensive product. I find it blends into the most skin like veil on my face but covers my pigmentation and balances my redness. All my other products layer beautifully on top. I think it makes my skin look years younger because it looks so seamless and natural. My husband didn't know I was trying a new foundation and both days in a row that I wore it he unexpectedly was looking at me and mentioned how beautiful I looked. He's not the complimentary type for no reason so I believe part of it has to be how naturally flawless this makes you look. I enjoy wearing this and I definitely would recommend using your fingers to apply like the package recommends. It's perfection.
Sisley-Paris Sisleÿa Le Teint melds beautifully on my skin. After cleansing my face, I apply serums, eye cream and SPF and let it soak in; then apply the Le Teint. I have normal/combo skin and find that I do not need moisturizer with this product. Le Teint gives a light to medium coverage and is a beautifully made product that gives flawless results.
The first time I tried this I used an Artis oval 8 to apply, and was not impressed. Then I saw others say using fingers worked well. Using my fingers this foundation blends beautifully into my skin. I have combo-oily skin, pores by nose, and some redness on cheeks/chin. Using my fingers this gave me a my skin but better finish. Feels great on my skin, and is not dewy or matte, just natural. I do use a setting powder as I always do since I get oily in t-zone during day. This foundation wears beautifully on my skin, and does not breakdown like others. I don't get that greasy look with creasing using this foundation. It is my new favorite. I am hopeful using it longer I will see some skincare benefits as well.
I purchased this foundation using the color selection online and it turned out to be too orange for my skin tone. Very expensive mistake. $170 there should be more extensive shade color pics...For reference I am a neutral ivory. This is so tragic. I used this a total of 2 times, trying desperately to make it work...
