When I don't want a mild physical exfoliant (this isn't a mild one because of the little exfoliating bits in it in my opinion) or chemical exfoliant, this is my go-to. I can agree with all the claims of this product on the Beautylish site so please check that out.
I really enjoy the experience, the smell (I suck at describing smells so I'll spare you my poor attempts at it), how it leaves my skin (fresh, clean, not dry as other physical exfoliants have done, smooth). (Since I have rather sensitive skin I want to add that this one doesn't freak my skin out, make it red or hurt or anything.)
Yes, it is pricey. Because I do not use it too often (probably around every two weeks) and it is the perfect rather intense physical exfoliant for me, I'm willing to spend the money on it.
why can't companies just let the fragrance thing go? this is a nice scrub but that is it. It has an awful fake smell. I am not sensitive to smells either and see people complain in reviews and I always say to myself, "who cares, ignore the scent." But this smell is not natural and I am not sure why those chose to add. It smells like a grandmothers perfume and so overdone, not natural and really hard to handle with it being on my face. By the way, I love my grandmother but when you think of a typical awful perfume - this is it. Please take fragrance out and I would buy again. Will not be repurchasing and the search continues for a non-fragrance scrub.
I was told by a facialist at a med spa that my skin clogs easily due to not being able to shed dead skin cells properly on its own. While she would generally recommend a more gentle form of exfoliation such as enzyme powders or a mild chemical exfoliant for her other clients, she actually suggested that I use a more effective physical exfoliant for my particular skin type. I find this scrub to be perfect for that purpose as it is more powerful than the gentle exfoliants I mentioned earlier. The exfoliating particles are round in shape and there are no sharp or jagged bits that could cause tears to the skin. Not only does it contain lava powders to physically exfoliate, there is also lactobionic acid to exfoliate chemically. Lactobionic acid is part of the AHA family but the much milder cousin of glycolic acid.
This scrub goes one step further by adding Hungarian Moor Mud, which helps to purify by drawing out excess sebum in the skin. I really enjoy how well rounded this product is ingredient wise and would definitely recommend it if you have the type of skin that can benefit from an effective physical exfoliation. I find that my skin has remained clear and less congested over the course of using this product, which is definitely the result I was hoping for!
