Allow me to start by saying that I do not care for the price point of this product. I think by charging $48 for this product, Kevyn Aucoin Beauty sets the stage for a certain levels of expectations, and for that kind of money... it better be banging.
This is product is truly a hybrid of a few of his lip products: The wear-ability of his matte lipsticks and the moisturizing capability of his Expert Lip colors. I would not liken the wear time of this product to a stain, nor would I liken this product to an OCC Lip Tar(although I think this was the route this product was trying to go.) It truly is kind of unique in that sense, and I think that's where the appeal is for me.
I love the texture and feel of it on the lips; very lightweight and moisturizing. It also is a breeze to apply, and it doesn't migrate or settle in any fine lines. You can get a nice soft pop of color by tapping a tiny bit over the lips with your pinkie finger, and you can also build the color up with ease. That being said, even though it has a satin finish to it, in my opinion, if you build it up too much it can look a tad dry.... Not a deal breaker though.
Do I think this product is worth the hefty price tag? I'm torn; I would love to see Kevyn Aucoin Beauty knock about $10 off the price of this product. There are just too many similar products on the market that are far less expensive that this lip satin, and I just think that maybe they overshot the mark when they priced this one. Personally, I like this product; however, if it were $38.00 instead of $48.00, I would love this product.
I had high hopes for this lipstick and was disappointed that it was nothing special. It's a particular letdown because of the ridiculous price. The formula is very similar to Stila and Sephora brand lip stains. Wears off after a few hours.
Awful gloss. It is very thin, barely shows any color and doesn't even come close to the lip stain products. Feels like a cheap lip gloss with no color pay off. Very disappointing.
The applicator that these go on with, is very nice. Its got a lovely feel to it. Hard to describe, but it does make the product glide on.
I have this cashmere, and I do wear it a lot. I do also have one in my kit, and I occasionally use it on clients; not an every week I pull it out sort of product. This said, I dont think all of these colors are amazing. I think they need to work on some better neutrals. Colorwise I think they dropped the ball a little here, which is unusual for the KAB.
When buying(if buying online), I dont think the colors online are true to the colors in the tube. You would have to go to YouTube to probably really get a more accurate look at what the colors are.
