This scrub features a rough cane sugar texture so if you are very sensitive, you might not like the feel of this at first; it could feel as though it is scratching you. But once you get past that initial ouchie phase and the sugar starts to melt a little, it becomes extremely pleasant.
The smell is intoxicating. Not to overpowering one direction or another - a perfect blend of coconut and citrus; lemon, lemongrass finished off with a kiss of vanilla. Coconut oil hardens when cold, so my scrub was a brick when it arrived. No biggie, I made sure the cap was on tight and I gave it a warm waterbath for about 10 minutes. I removed the vessel and with a demitasse spoon, I slowly stir the scrub and mixed the oils throughout the product to redistribute and soften the mix. Indie Lee's products can and will separate because they lack chemical stabilizers. I found with the waterbath method, I did not have to add warm water to the actual product, which over time, too much water can harden the sugar.
With the consistency of light brown sugar and the texture of sugar in the raw, I scoop a small amount out and cup it in my hands allowing the warmth of my body to begin melting the oils. I then apply small amounts at a time to my skin, starting with my shoulders and working downward. Limb by limb slowly and methodically.
The vessel is a medium weight plastic with a screw top. The container is easy to open and scoop product out of and since it is plastic I do not have to worry about it slipping off of my shower's bench and shattering to the floor. All Indie Lee products are housed inside brown vessels to protect the ingredients from light, which tends to break down the effectiveness faster. Indie Lee's products are in their most natural state - no greenwashing here - only the finest quality products are used and you can feel the difference instantly.
I love a good body scrub and India Lee has developed a phenomenal product. The smell is heavenly! This scrub reminds me of the enchanting scent of lemongrass and ginger I fell in love with during my travels in Bali. The sugar used in the scrub is fine and infused with essential oils that gently exfoliates and moisturizes your skin. I use this in the shower with my clarisonic body brush to achieve incredibly soft, smooth, touchable skin that glows. You'll LOVE this product if these scents appeal to you.
I use this once a week, especially during the colder months because it take off the dry skin and moisturizes my refreshed skin so well. I first wash my body and then use this scrub all over. Honestly, I love this product. A nice side note is that I have eczema and it doesn't bother it and has helped with some of the marks from it that I do have.
I received a sample size of Indie Lee The Body Scrub in my February Beauty Army kit and I finally let myself use up the last bit of it, which I was hiding from BF because I was being soft-skin-greedy. I had never used a body scrub before getting this sample, and now I cannot imagine my shower routine without a body scrub. Aside from it smelling SO delicious (enough to eat, but, yes, I held back) it makes your skin feel like silk - like brand new baby skin! It's unbelievable how good this makes me feel. I don't even feel the need to use a body lotion after I get out of the shower. The only down side, for me personally, is the price - nearly $40 for 12 oz. I just know I would only use it on "special occasions".
This is the best body scrub I have ever used! It not only smells amazing, but it leaves your skin feeling fresh and moisturized! My favorite thing about this scrub is that it is 100% natural, so you know you are using something that is not only great for your skin, but SAFE for your body!
I've been waiting to find a good body scrub and I finally found one that is super awesome and it also smells really good. I have really dry skin but after using this product my skin feels so soft. I absolutely love this product and the spoon it comes with is suppperrr helpful and cute.
Totally amazing body scrub that literally melts into your skin leaving it smooth, silky, moisturized, & fabulous. No lie... best part is it's natural. I received a sample size of this from Indie Lee about two weeks ago or so & have been loving this product ever since. I did a complete review on it (along w/other Indie Lee products) on my main blog! Check it out! http://runwayorthehighway.wordpress.com/2011/11/18/going-all-natural-with-indie-lee/
This delicious scrub has saved the skin on my lower legs, which has always been very dry and itchy to the point where I would scratch in my sleep and wake up with scabs. I use this every time I shave to moisturize the skin, lay down a smooth surface, and make the hairs stand up for a closer shave. The smell is so yummy and fresh and just fills the shower like aromatherapy. And it comes with a handy spatula, a quite sturdy one, perfect for scooping out a dollop for use and great for use for other products beyond the scrub once you're scraped the tub clean - and you will!
It's the perfect ratio of sugar to oil, not too runny, not too crunchy and firm. Now, depending on where you store it, you might get some changes in the consistency. This is easily solved by resting the container in a hot water bath until it melts through and then giving it a good stir with the spatula. Sometimes I'll just leave it on the bottom of the tub while I shower so the heat warms it up beautifully.
I've gone through one tub and have already repurchased and I don't see myself hopping off the Indie Lee wagon anytime soon. Oh, and a cheeky bonus - it's amazing for buttne! Give the backside a good scrub a couple times a week and see what I mean.
This was one of the first sugar scrubs I ever had the guts to try. (I'm usually the stick to what u know kind of girl.) Any way it greatly exceeded my expectations as to what skin exfoliation truly is. I love using it on my feet after pedicures and bubble baths. It leaves the heels of my feet softer than a babies bottom. It also can be used as a lip scrub.
The scent of this is wonderful and I think a little bit goes a long way. In the instructions it says to shave after exfoliating, but it totally ruined my blade and gunked it up. Since then I exfoliate on the days I don't shave, but it leaves my skin so soft!
