About HoliFrog Shasta AHA Refining Acid Wash
With the perfect combo of smoothing and brightening acids to penetrate your skin while you wash, Shasta AHA Refining Acid Wash by HoliFrog will be your new go-to. The light, non-foaming formula is made to tackle adult acne, clogged pores, rough texture, and overall dullness without stripping your skin of moisture.
Who It’s For
Breakouts, congestion, large pores, and/or dullness and rough texture
Why It’s Special
- Targeted blend of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) exfoliates while you cleanse to reveal brighter, smoother skin and smaller-looking pores.
- Soothing, non-fragrant botanicals ease irritation and keep skin nice and hydrated.
- No essential oils, drying alcohols, or triclosan—absolutely nothing that can further inflame skin.
How To Use
Massage on damp skin in a circular motion for about a minute. Take your time, it’s sinking in. Rinse and pat dry. Use whenever you’re going through a rough patch.
- Glycolic: An exfoliant to help shed dead skin to renew skin’s surface. It visibly softens signs of aging from sun damage.
- Mandelic: Exfoliates at a lower risk of irritation.
- Lactic: Helps to brighten an uneven skin tone and is an effective alternative for sensitive skin types.
- Tartaric: Its primary benefit is to regulate the formula’s pH.
- Citric: It eliminates irritating impurities on the skin by grabbing onto them so they cannot enter the skin.
- Australian Caviar Lime Extract: Fruit acid gently brightens and smooths skin.
- Tamanu Oil: A nut oil native to the south Pacific that helps skin heal and regenerates itself.
- Rosehip Oil: Hydrate the skin and protect it from environmental damage.
- Aloe Vera: Offsets potential irritation from the acids by calming the skin and reducing redness.
- Size: 5 fl oz / 148 ml

Already my #1 Face wash
Beautylish , THANK YOU for introducing me and the world to HOLIFROG. I’m a 41 year old female that used to tan a lot ( 21 years ) so I have some larger pores . I get cystic acne maybe twice a year and my skin is oily . After TWO WASHES, my pores are minuscule , skin is soft , supple, and HAPPY! Also an amazing price point! I hope you will continue to carry anything HOLIFROG produces ! Thanks again...Katherine19 found this helpful.Dida K. Jan 31, 2020
This is the best cleanser in my life so far. i love how it feels on my skin. after i used this my skin felt so bouncy and not drying at all. I realized my complexion turned clear and my face felt soft and bright. I will forever purchase this cleanser and also I wanna try Tashmoo!

Gentle Enough for Every Day!
I'm a big fan of AHA's for keeping my dry skin smooth and preventing congestion, but sometimes serums can be a little too much... not the case with this cleanser! I can use it every day and my skin actually feels *moisturized* right after and there's absolutely no redness or irritation. I use about a pump and a half tend to let it sit on my skin for a few minutes like a mask after massaging and before rinsing away. I've definitely noticed smoother, more even-toned, and less stressed skin in the month since I bought this!5 found this helpful.Arista S. Mar 30, 2020
I literally just bought two additional bottles of this because I can never be without it. My skin is dehydrated, sensitive, and acne prone, and I can use this comfortably twice a day (although I have been using it just as a second cleanse due to other AHA's in my routine). It has transformed my skin's texture completely. Don't have any expectations that this will foam, or feel 'squeaky-clean' (because neither of those things tend to be good for your skin). Instead, wait and watch the results, because I am a month in and will not ever go back.3 found this helpful.Madison M. Apr 10, 2020
It’s nice but it’s SO expensive for the amount of product!
I am so picky about cleansers. I am incredibly sensitive to certain ingredients like milk cleansers, but also very oily and congested. I love a ph balancing fell cleanser with actives. Dr Dennis gross’s cleansers is my go-to.
This cleanser is really nice, and I appreciate the clean ingredients and how soft my skin feels after I use it. It does irritate my skin a bit if I’ve used retin-a the night before, but that’s okay. To me, this is more like a flash facial and a cleanser. I leave it on while brushing my teeth.
That being said..the price is TOO HIGH! It’s nice but at $38/5oz (dr Dennis gross is $38 for 7.5 or 8 Oz, and you only need a tiny bit) I won’t be repurchasing.3 found this helpful.Lynzee L. Apr 06, 2020
Had a bad skin reaction.
I bought this Holifrog cleanser since my typical Mahalo Unveil balm cleanser was sold out here on Beautylish. This has good reviews so I went for it. I wash my face at night and noticed every time I used it my face and neck itchy and splotchy. I am not new to AHAs but there's definitely something in this cleanser that my skin doesn't like. I even tried using this as a shave cream as to use it up since it isn't cheap, but it made my legs itchy, red and splotchy too. I like the ingredients (hence the 2 stars), but this cleanser just didn't work for me.2 found this helpful.Cheching H. Mar 18, 2020
Break me out.
I thought I would love this product. I am not first to be introduced to Chemical exfoliation, I use the serum form expropriator on daily basis( DE TLC framboo), but it ran out, also I started using other active ingredients I.e. retnoilds so i thought a wash off exfoliating is milder, unfortunately, I don’t have any lucks with this product.2 found this helpful.Samantha K. excellent for my sensitive skin
This exfoliating cleanser is excellent for my skin's needs. While my skin does need exfoliation I'm not one of those who can tolerate exfoliating daily, and after trying and not getting along with many acid toners and cleansers I'd pretty much given up. Holifrog's ingredients intrigued me though, so I decided to give them a chance. I use Shasta once to twice a week, depending on necessity. If my skin is in a good place I use it on its own, if I'm feeling a little sensitive I add a pump to my regular cleanser (which happens to be Holidfrog Superior, not affiliated with the brand nor gifted any products - just happen to really like them!) My experience has been great, and this is the first exfoliating product I've repurchased in a long time. No irritation, just lovely smooth skin : )Megan S. Jun 16, 2020
Happy to try it...
I got this face wash as part of my luckybag and have enjoyed it. I don't know if it's that exceptional, definitely a great water based formula, but I don't know that I'll repurchase. I incorporate acids generally speaking as toners or serums layered after washing and before moisturizing, so I don't know that the "AHA" component is really doing anything for me in this step of my routine. Maybe it's the concentration or maybe just not particularly effective given my usual regimen. All in all its a nice luxurious face wash, but nothing totally special or unique. I had no initial reaction or purging and was able to add it in to my routine seamlessly, so that was a plus. I'd also note the pump bottle is wonky, I've had trouble with it picking up product from day one on and off.
