Forget the ITA!!
This is my favorite contour brush. I have the coveted ITA and actually think it sucks. I have a Hakuhodo Itabake contour brush, this beats both of them my leaps and bounds. Perfect for applying and blending out a contour. Seems small at first but that is a very good thing.25 found this helpful.Janine B. Oct 07, 2014
Best Contour Brush...
I absolutely love this brush. At first, I wasn't sure what to do with it, seeing as I don't contour on a regular basis. It does work great for contour when I do decide to take the extra step, but I have been finding that my ultimate use for it is to get bronzer in areas that it doesn't stick with a normal bronzer brush. The hair line! I have a very uneven hair line that sometimes can leave white spots after bronzer, no matter what brush I use. This brush really helps get into all the little areas that don't normally catch the bronzer. The bristles are so soft, and it does pick up the perfect amount of product. Also, when contouring the nose, the size of this brush is perfect. Not too big, not too small.21 found this helpful.L R. Mar 06, 2015
I have a few contouring brushes, but this one has quickly become my favorite. The Z3 is a great tool, whether you prefer a sharper contour or more subtle and diffused angles; it's even great when you're in a bit of a rush, but still insist on looking polished (guilty!). The little Z3 will just be there for you :) It's super soft on the face and wont disturb your foundation; it doesn't pick up too much powder; and the shape of the brush does all the work for you. I'm so glad I found this brush. It also works great for pushing cream blush or convertible colors into the cheeks.14 found this helpful.ModeratorKitty K. Jan 25, 2015
Love this little brush!
This brush really does a great job at depositing color softly and evenly, making for an absolutely gorgeous contour. The small size allows me to get into more detailed areas unlike most contour brushes you find at Sephora which are usually large. Chikuhodo makes some of the softest brushes, therefore if you have sensitive skin or just hate how brushes feel against your skin it will be next to impossible for Chikuhodo to fail you. My skin is NEVER irritated with these brushes, and it's really hard to use any other brush once you get into Japenese brushes. I love this brush, and it's small enough to even contour the nose with and even the eyes. Definitely worth it if you enjoy contouring!14 found this helpful.Mandy C. Jul 15, 2016
Great contour brush!!
I love this brush. To be honest the brush was a lot smaller than I pictured it to be. As far as the brush head it appears bigger in photos. Now with that being said. I'm honestly really impressed and love this brush for contour work!! It's legit the perfect size to fit into the contours of the face. Very precise it looks really really nice. The brush is amazingly soft but firm at the same time. I bet it would be good with creams but I wouldn't wanna compromise the hair. Idk maybe will buy a second juts for that!! It hugs the lines of the contours just right!! It's a great brush. This company makes brushes the world loves for a reason. I would deff recommend.9 found this helpful.Neveen W. Nov 09, 2016
My favorite contour brush!
I've always been horrible at contouring, I just couldn't for the life of me get it to look right, I gave up on it for awhile until I found a video on youtube of someone using this brush for contour. I'm so glad I found that video and this brush, it gives the softest contour and I love it, the brush itself is incredibly soft and application for me was easy peasy, love it!!. Customer service on this site is amazing, thank you so much for helping me out with this brush.7 found this helpful.Cheska L. Mar 23, 2016
I use this brush for picking up powder from my Kat von d light and shade contour palette. It picks up the right amount and deposits the product with out disturbing my foundation underneath. It's so soft! Definitely a very luxurious brush and worth every penny :)7 found this helpful.Soksann K. May 04, 2015
I spent my money on the Nars ika brush or whatever you call it which I used 3x and did not like it for 55 dollars and when I got this omg sculpting its easier for me. Soft and makes sculpting natural. Its actually cheaper. It kind of remind of Mac 109 just really small, more precise, shorter with a flat top. I am comparing brushes to what I have. I love this little fella, he doest he job for me.7 found this helpful.Jenny M. Feb 10, 2019
Not a favourite...
I don’t like this brush. I tried really hard to like it but despite the price and quality, I just don't. I bought the entire Z-series and this is the only one I have no use for (I highly recommend all the other Z-series brushes).
The shape is consistent with a contour brush, the squirrel hairs are beautifully soft, the craftsmanship is superb, but I just don’t like the way my makeup looks when I use it. I much prefer my Zoeva 140 Luxe Petite Buffer brush that is considerably cheaper...which is larger, of a similar shape, and a mixture of goat and synthetic. Attached photo is Z-3 and Zoeva 140 for comparison (I’m sorry my 140 brush wasn’t washed). I would only recommend this brush if you’re the type of person who needs the complete set. Otherwise I wouldn’t bother. The craftsmanship is superb but I personally have no use for this brush.🌸7 found this helpful.
