This grey squirrel Z-1 brush is the most perfect brush to ever grace my skin! Once I started using this brush, I immediately began selling most of my powder brushes bc NOTHING I've ever owned has even come close to the perfection of this brush! It's density & rounded head are perfect for applying powder & bronzers but it's also fantastic to use as a finishing brush! Once you've applied blush, contour & highlight, you can run this brush over it all for a perfectly blended, seamless finish! I admit that what got me interested in this brush is that I have a few dry, patchy areas on my face (while the rest of it is oily-ugh!) that become flaky easily whenever I use a brush that isn't soft enough. Most other powder brushes cause micro-exfoliation when applying my powder, but not this baby!! It's definitely a dream come true for dry flaky skin! Bc of this brush (plus a few other recent Chikuhodo brush purchases), I have become head over heels with this brand! There is NOTHING else like it! So even though it is pricey, the fact alone that it solved my flaky skin issue made it worth EVERY penny to me!! In-case someone wishes to purchase one of these high end brushes but needs some assistance, Beautylish has a payment option available (at checkout) where you can pay for it 1/3 the price over a period of 3 months until it's paid off--no interest!! So for this brush--that would be approx. $60 per month for 3 months in a row & then it's paid for! HTH! See pic for comparison of brush sizes only: Real Techniques blush brush, Chikhodo Z-1, MAC 150.
I know I’m going to step on a few toes by saying this, but I think this Chikuhodo powder brush is better and softer than the Suqqu powder brush. Don’t get me wrong, the Suqqu brush is ultra soft too and I love it but the Chikuhodo is not only ultra soft but it is also super silky and cheaper to boot. . The bristles are closely packed together so it is not only useful for all-over powdering and bronzing but it can also be used for buffing in mineral and powder foundation into the skin because of its bristles density and rounded tip which you cannot do with the Suqqu powder brush. If you could only own one luxurious powder brush I highly recommend this Chikuhodo brush. It’s ultra soft, super silky and worth the price! You’ll definitely love it!
This brush is absolutely amazing! It is the softest brush I own by far. The Wayne Goss brushes are just as soft but I really needed something bigger for an all over powder brush. My skin is extremely sensitive due to Retin-A so scratchy brushes can really irritate. Not so with this brush! It applies powder beautifully. The brush is very high quality and well made, with proper care it will last for many years.
I bought this brush to use exclusively with my guerlain meteorites finishing powder. The squirrel hairs pick up powder beautifully, but I've known this since the acquisition of my hakuhodo blue squirrel brushes. What sold me about this brush was its beautiful shape like it was made to be used rolling over the perles of the meteorites. I can tell you that this will be an investment brush of course but also if you choose to purchase, you will be looking for more ways to use it. It's that good! By far the quality and density of this brush by far surpasses any of my hakuhodo and Tom ford brushes. It feels soft like the small tapered wayne goss face brush however the density on this one creates a feeling that none of my other Japanese hand crafted squirrel brushes present. This is my favorite brush. I find myself going back with no product on this brush after my makeup application has been finished to once again feel the elegance of the Z-1.
yes its soft but as compared to the other Z series brushes that I have, this one is shedding hair every time i use it.(like 3 hairs per use and I have only used for a week) I have not washed it yet so hopefully if i were to wash it, it'll stop the shedding. But its kinda disappointing looking at the price that I have paid for just a brush, hoping that it'll be THE powder brush for me. If not this issue, definitely a 5 stars. mine could probably be a dud :(
This is the most money I've ever spent on a brush. It's crazy expensive. With that said, when I got this brush I was in brush heaven. It really is the softest brush and really great quality. I am hooked. Along with the Wayne Goss collection, I think Chikuhodo is my all time favorite brand.
I wish I would have known about theses brushes before having spent so much money on big name brand brushes like TF. This brush picks up just the right amount of powder without you having to do anything! It makes you look natural but better. I use it for everything- face powders, blushes, bronzers. FYI-This is the best brush to apply the Byterry sun designer palate!
First of all, I would like to commend Beautylish on their exceptional customer service. Now to this brush, it is a beautifully and meticulously crafted brush. It feels gorgeously soft against your skin making it a pleasure to use. The hairs pick up powder very evenly and never apply too heavily. A worthy investment.
It's a soft powder brush but not very versatile because it is too delicate for creams or liquids. It will give you a diffused natural look with loose powder but the round head does not allow for any precision in contouring or highlighting so, for the price, you are simply using it as a fluffy touch up powder puff. If you have the extra funds, go for it. It is well made and a luxury item. I like to use it around the eyes and sensitive areas under the eyes to make sure my powders are not caked during the day. It's a way to inhale and relax for 2 seconds during a busy day.
I love how beautifully my powder glides on with his brush, it doesn't look like I have anything on. Works perfectly for bronzers and foundation powder and it's totally seamless. I also like how dense the brush is. I also found that when I washed it, it dried beautifully and quite quickly. I really recommend this brush, it's worth the price tag.
