Larger than life beauty!!
I absolutely LOVE my Chik Z-1 & it's so incredibly perfect that I know it will ALWAYS remain one of my favs! After falling so in love with it, I had to try a large goat haired version...enter the Takumi T-1. To be honest, I struggled awhile before deciding on this one b/c it was so much larger than the Z-1 that I was afraid it might be floppy. And 'yes' the bristles are much longer & fuller, but the density is what makes this brush perform so well! It doesn't feel exactly like the Z-1 which is what I'd expect-after all- it's goat, not squirrel, but regardless they both feel like heaven when swept across the skin & both make the perfect all over powder & finishing brushes as well. LOVE how this T-1 becomes much fuller & luxurious after you've washed & used it! My T-5 & T-6 do the same! :) Also love the look & feel of the black handles with the gorgeous red writing & white bristles! So glad I finally gave into the T-1! No regrets with this larger than life beauty! See pic for size comparison: Z-1 (left) T-1 (right)65 found this helpful.Erin J. Apr 30, 2015
I have accumulated quite a few Chikuhodo brushes from multiple lines. I love them all. The craftsmenship and quality of the materials make these such a pleasure to use. I have most of the Z-series, a couple of the Maki-e, some GSN-series, and the Passion-series eye brush. When the Takumi-series arrived, I really wondered if I needed to venture into accumulating these, too. Ok...wanted, not needed,. The addiction continues, unrelenting.
While I understand that squirrel is a finer, softer feeling hair for makeup brushes, the Saikoho goat hair used in the Takumi-series is heavenly soft. I love all of my squirrel hair brushes and appreciate their soft, gentle application of product. But I'm going to go out on a limb and declare this T-1 my (current...I'm fickle) favorite brush! First of all, it's huge. The hair of the T-1 is longer & fuller than any of the other brushes I own from all other lines. That means bigger than the Z-1 & Z-9. After using it a few times, it loosens up a bit and becomes even fuller. It doesn't splay out - just becomes even more luxurious than when you first receive it. The hair has an amazingly silky, cool, satiny feel on the skin that I adore. It's a wonderful brush for a light dusting of setting powder, an all over application of finishing powder, or just that last all over blending of products to make sure there are no harsh lines.
If the cost wouldn't give me a stroke, I'd order a dozen backups. I love it so much, I might have to give it a name.38 found this helpful.amy m. Jul 05, 2015
Amazing brush, a must have in your collection
Calling all brush lovers! You have to have this brush! this is an exceptionally good brush.. for a while I wondered about its size and left the best to the last.. and when I got it finally I was very happy! this is a super soft brush, covers the entire sweep or two, and it is to be used with powder products.. Be very gentle when washing it and caring for it.19 found this helpful.Marianna K. Mar 28, 2015
Perfect Size, Density, and Shape!
I am a big fan of Chikuhodo brushes and the Takumi series T is a fabulous collection. This T-1 Powder brush is super soft and the perfect density and shape for laying down a light veil of powder so you look finished and not chalky. Great for the whole face or just going over the T zone. It works with loose or pressed powder and picks up the perfect amount of product. Definitely a must have for any collection.13 found this helpful.Jenni L. Apr 27, 2018
The most luxurious powder brush! I am a connoisseur of Japanese brushes and this is probably the softest powder brush that’s ever touched my face. It’s perfect for applying setting or finishing powder- I just tried it with Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder (which I’ve used for years) and this is the best it’s ever looked. It’s a nice brush to use without product too- to smooth over your face and blend any lines. Just beautifully crafted. It’s always a pleasure ordering from Beautylish- my brush was wrapped immaculately with a nice ribbon around it.5 found this helpful.Diary L. Mar 20, 2015
BIG and SOFT
BIG and SOFT
So... Soft I want to play all day with this Brushes This brush very useful if you want to cover the entire face. And whisk the remaining powder. Personally, I love T - zone powdering so.... Yes, very expensive Whisk Brushes :( but who knows :)5 found this helpful.L C. Oct 16, 2019
Started out great......
So disappointed to have to write this review. First I have to say I love Chikuhodo brushes. I have 2 from the Z Series and 5 from the T series. All have performed well and have stood up to cleaning on a regular basis, except for this powder brush. It will NOT stop shedding. I understand that initially there is always a bit of shedding in natural hair brushes but this just won't stop!!! I do use this brush a few times a day to powder (especially on hot days) I have to pick off long white hairs from my face which is so annoying not to mention what comes out after a gentle cleanse. This brush in Canadian Funds was $170.00, which stings! None of my other brushes have had this problem, maybe it's time to go to a synthetic version?2 found this helpful.
