Is a foundation that will set you back $115 worth it? The answer is a resounding YES and I'll explain why.
The By Terry Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation is as it seems: a serum and a foundation. So basically it's a two-for. But like anything else, a product is only worth the deal if it actually works and this foundation lives up to it's billing.
The foundation comes in a lovely glass bottle with a pump. You only need a very little bit of this foundation for a flawless application. The foundation itself has a bit more consistency to it than a liquid foundation (after all it is a serum as well) but isn't quite a gel. The feel is extremely smooth and it applies beautifully either with fingers, a blending sponge, or with a blending brush.
Coverage is on the more natural to light side. You can easily build up coverage to about a medium. I did not find that this foundation could be built to a full coverage. That being said, in my opinion full coverage is not necessary with this foundation.
The feel on the face is as if you are wearing nothing at all. I tried the foundation both with and without a primer so I would be able to offer a fair assessment. (Since I am currently using the By Terry primer, the primer only added to the flawless coverage - there will be a separate review of the primer.) The Densiliss technology is combined with the Mimetic Factor (patented) to simulate fibroblasts and collagen synthesis by mimetism. The foundation not only refines and firms the skin and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles but the effects last beyond the wearing of the foundation. A light application of this foundation, with no primer, easily disguised my fine lines around my eyes - it literally was as if they disappeared! I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.
The foundation wore flawlessly all day. It did not fade or transfer to clothing. Since very little product is required for good coverage, this product should last a long time. So because of it's gorgeous coverage, skin-saving serum benefits, and seemingly inexhaustable bottle, $115 is a great deal for this product. http://mmrkt1.wix.com/binxcatsbeautyblog#!By-Terry-Terrybly-Densiliss-Wrinkle-Control-Serum-Foundation/c1rfl/3589B751-1899-422B-AF20-B630C1855B50
I like to sometimes imagine myself as a rich 70-something year old woman, indulging in the fanciest of products and an amazing rich lifestyle. Realistically I'm a 20-something girl living in an urban environment running around with the hustle and bustle of the city which in most cases will lead more to the lifestyle of the 70 year old woman on the subway carrying a bad attitude to match her skin. That being said, it's extremely important to me to use only the best products that my future 70 year old self would approve of. Sure, it has a hefty price tag but it's worth it. Despite it feeling like silk on the skin, and knowing of it's anti-aging benefits, it literally blurs any imperfections (for me, pores, fine lines) and for you fair-skinned ladies, there is a color that is a perfect match for you. The best part? As I'm running around town, my foundation seems to actually look better throughout the day. I don't know how that could possibly be, but it's true. Ask any of the haggard 70 year old ladies on the train late night tonight...she'll vouch for me and might just get a bottle herself.
I'm 23 years old, so I'm certainly not the targeted demographic for this "wrinkle control" foundation. However, I will try any foundation that's marketed as looking like your skin but better, so I tried out a sample of this to see what it was like. With the absurdly expensive price tag, I honestly wish I could say that I hated this stuff and it's not worth the money. However...it's pretty darn amazing. With a semi-matte finish, this stuff glides on your skin, giving you fairly moderate coverage while looking COMPLETELY natural. I can't speak to the anti-aging claims, but I can say that as a foundation this is one of the best I have ever tried.
For the product itself, I would give this five stars without a doubt. It looks gorgeous and natural, and (on top of a hydrating primer and moisturizer) it did not look "too dry" on my normal to dry skin at all. The color shades are a bit funky (I would've thought with my fair skin I'd be more of a 2 or 4, but turned out to be a perfect match for 5) but the color adjusts to your skin tone which is quite helpful. This stuff would be a perfect 5 stars if not for the price tag. I understand that it's a skincare/makeup hybrid (which I love), and honestly I know it's a luxury brand so I could see it being sold at $75 and sounding more reasonable. $115 is fairly extreme. That being said, this foundation was stunning enough that I will (guiltily) be forking over the money for it. I loved what it did for my skin.
Its official, a foundation can change your life! I was sure nothing cld compare to my YSL, but this has has evicted YSL to the gloomy back of the vanity! The coverage is amazing, light but still buildable without being cakey. I was worried about the shade but considering my ethnic background "Chirish" (Chinese & Irish) my pink and yellow tones were blended beautifully with Golden beige. Im also impressed with the fine line coverage, Im a young GlamMa (yes thats a recent profile pic, but I still refuse to use the Grandma word! ) so Im always paranoid about foundation that settles around my eyes and fine lines. This stuff is amazing, Im so happy I made the splurge, even with the ridiculous custom fees to have it shipped to Canada, I wld definitely do it again!
I adore this foundation and am on my second bottle--very excited to see the By Terry line on Beautylish! This is one of three foundations that lives up to my admittedly picky standards: medium to dull coverage with a natural finish that lasts all day. Shade two is the perfect match for my very fair but neutral skin (~N10). I can't begin to list the many lines don't make a light enough shade for me (eg Mac, Chanel, Tom Ford, Armani, etc.), so I was surprised to find that the "lightest" shade was not right in the Densiliss. Be sure to pick the right undertones when you're trying to find a match (the Beauty Professor posts extremely helpful swatches and descriptions and led me to the perfect match!). The price was hard to swallow at first, but it is absolutely gorgeous and truly worth every penny. I recently started using it with the Densiliss primer (which I hope to see here soon!) and the combo is long-lasting perfection.
Okay, so this foundation makes my already pretty good skin feel even better. When I wear this, my skin feels softer than my actual skin because of the great formulation. This foundation doesn't oxidize on me like many do and I found that my match actually stayed my match until I washed it off. It has anti-aging technology (mimetic factor) and I believe it's this innovation that keeps it looking fresh throughout the day. It's great for late 20's onwards because of this (if you're concerned about preventative aging). I'm going to replace my YSL Fluid Ink Foundation for this because it performs tremendously better.
This is possibly the best foundation that I've picked up. Out of everything that I've tried, the Terrybly Densiliss is the only thing that's given me a perfected sheer coverage. This and the Cle de Peau Radiant Foundation have become my HG complexion products... I only wish they weren't the most expensive foundations on the market
For me BY TERRY is like the Willy Wonka of makeup, sounds weird but let me explain, it looks and smells amazing and you just are left wondering how she has done it?? So call me Augustus Gloop but I just want to get my hands on all the products!! This Foundation is unlike anything on the market, the wear is next to nothing and I have tried everything from tarte, MUFE, YSL, Elis Faas the list goes on.... When i wear this foundation it gives me an instant face lift like a tightness on my skin which i'm assuming is the anti aging benefits. When you think about it, makeup stays on our skin for such a large portion of our day so we need to be careful on what kind of ingredients we allow on our skin, so for my skin to look flawless and be treating it at the same time is a winner! $115 is steep but i don't need to wear a primer or a finishing powder (plus the anti-aging benefits) so it evens out
There is nothing wrong with this foundation, but I've found just as good, if not better, with a better price tag. The Guerlain Lingerie De Peau runs a little over $60 and is Better in my opinion. The main difference between the 2 is that the By Terry formula has less coverage. I actually don't wear my foundation heavy, but I found I had to use 2x the By Terry foundation to get the nice even look I get with half the amount of the Guerlain. So the By Terry formula costs 2x as much and I have to use 2x as much = not a winner!
I know there is a lot of Good fundations out there, but this one by far should be named the unbeatable! I'm a guy ,run, work,go to the gym etc... plus walk all ,all day .....this fundation looks immaculate all day (like 14 hours)the biggest challenge is when I'm going to the gym and I get in the steam room and after 30 min of suading you my thinke my fundation dsappear , he'll No I just tap my face with a towel and Is still ON!!! Looks so natural and has such great coverage. Actually I purchase shade 4 and 7 ,both work perfect on me.
