ok...lets face it, right now every brand has a shadow stick! With brands like NYX, NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, Nudestix, MAC and others all trying to tell you their stick won't crease or budge. Now having tried all the aforementioned only some of them earn that distinction. By Terry's are at the top of the list and for 43.00 a pop they better be! My must have colors are Ombre Mercue, Frozen Quartz, Bronze moon and Velvet Orchid. They are made in Italy have 1.64 grams of product and the packaging is pretty and feels expensive. As far as using them I suggesting using them with a secondary transfer method. So I apply the product to my finger tip and then blend it on to my eye, unless I am using it as a smudged liner, then I apply it directly to my lash line. I also find that it's best to work on one eye at a time so prevent it from drying and not being workable. These have incredible color pay off and a beautiful shimmer. Much less glitter than the Charlotte Tilbury color chameleons, So if those were to much of a glitter bomb for you give these are try! They are stunning.
I decided to finally review these babies after feeling miffed at the roughly two-hour lifespan I experienced with TOM FORD's Cream Color for Eyes in "Platinum." Honestly, I don't know what all the fuss is about with this line. I don't like to write trashy reviews so I decided it was time to pay homage to a really phenomenal product from a genuinely phenomenal line. So here it goes.
For starters, I'll say that #15 Ombre Mercure is the beautiful light metallic taupe that "Platinum" would like to be. As with all the By Terry Ombre Blackstar eyeshadows the formula is sublime: a creamy, buttery and blendable texture that glides on and blends like no other. And they layer like no other. And they last like no other. At the end of the day, even when I'm feeling spent, they're still filled with vitality and ready to carry on without me.
I have very sensitive eyes so I can also attest to how comfortable and featherlight they feel while they are providing such incredible pigmentation. They're the absolute simplest way I know to get a long lasting, beautiful eye look.
While the colors do differ somewhat in finish, I would ultimately refer to them all as pearlescent; they have the sophisticated iridescent luster of genuine pearls and you can't get more flattering than that!
The "problem" is that too many of the shades stand out as simply too stunning to ignore, making it very difficult to narrow down your choices. Also, it's not really possible to capture how pretty they are in photographs &/or words because they're constantly shifting and playing with light the way pearls do.
Here's my feeble attempt at describing some of my favorites:
#3 Blond Opal is a shimmery gold champagne, perfect for highlighting the inner corners of the eyes.
#4 Bronze Moon is a rich, warm shimmering taupe, which shifts to a shimmery classic bronze in a certain light.
#5 Misty Rock is a warm, dusky purple with a satin finish that somehow works as a "neutral."
#6 Frozen Quartz is a light shimmery rose gold with a subtle yet crystalline glow. (Sometimes I see a hint of lilac.)
#9 Velvet Orchid is a dark plummy purple with just a hint of shimmer.
I already mentioned Ombre Mercure vis-à-vis that waste-of-time product I won't mention again.
I was truly over the moon when I finally got the third color of my trio of eye makeup By Terry. This Bronze Moon is a perfect name because it's the color that's right for a teeny amount during the day or a smoky eye during the night. As with all the By Terry eyeshadows in pen format you have about one minute to get the color where you want it and then blend, blend, blend and you're eye's perfect as long as you put on the color where it belongs and it's easy to do because with a day eye you use just a teeny amount to add color to the side the lids and at night you add much more of this color to go to a smoky eye. And don't forget you have ONLY one minute to blend all the colors together to come out with a fantastic smoky eye. Again thanks Terry for coming across the Ocean to Beautylish.
This is an expensive product I bought it because I blog whatsbeanHappening.com and every other respectable blogger loves it. It is by far the easiest shadow to apply that I have ever owned. The color is gorgeous, it does not crease no matter what you do and it lasts all day. If you buy anything, buy one of these. I love mine and I'm about to buy more!
I only use cream eyeshadows because they tend to stay put longer and look better than powders on my lids. However, they can be challenging to apply correctly and blend well. These products are the best I've found. I have 3 colors: Brown Perfection, Velvet Orchid and Bronze Moon. The colors are deeply pigmented, beautiful and last all day. I apply the shadows by drawing a few lines back and forth on the back of my hand, then pick up the shadow using the Rae Morris Brush 8.5 and apply to my eyes. The brush makes a big difference.
I am really impressed with this cream eyeshadow. The formula of this is excellent! So creamy and super easy to blend! Really worth the hype! The colour payoff is just 👌
I am more obsessed with eyeliners and mascaras but lately I've been putting more efforts to put on eyeshadows and by having this in my stash is definitely helpful cause it's a fuss-free step for my everyday look. Love love love!
Highly recommend this! ☺️
Wow!! these are great! they are so easy to blend and they are pigmented. A little goes a long way! I love them for those easy lazy days were you want to look as though effort was put it but i really wasn't :)
If you're looking for a multitasking, high quality product that will never let you down, look no further. My mother originally got me into these and originally I was skeptical--like other reviewers have said, each eyeshadow stick is very expensive. The price no longer deters me, because these are THAT GOOD. My favorite shades (I have very fair skin, blue eyes and dark red hair) are Misty Rock and Frozen Quartz. For more color, try Blue Obsession or Midnight Forest. I've used mine as eyeliner (with and without a brush), eyeshadow and eyeshadow base (like you would a MAC paint pot). They stay as shimmery and dramatic as when you put them on, for hours on end. Plus, the incredibly creamy consistency can't be beat--I once left one uncapped by accident and it didn't dry out even a little. A total winner, and their performance justifies the price.
absolutely love it. i have hooded eyes and i tend to have a problem with eyeshadows not sticking to my lids because of it but with this it did pretty well staying on and looks great with eyeshadows or without! misty rock is a gorgeous color, and esp for fair skinned girls with light eyes it really brings them out and is very complimentary. i just put in another order of the ombre blackstars, that's how much i love it.
I have way too many of these eyeshadow sticks but they are just that good! Firstly, the shade range is great. There are the usual neutral and gorgeous bronzes, and then slightly more fun colours like purples and green which are still really wearable. Secondly, these honestly last ALL DAY. Every brand is coming up with eyeshadow sticks but these are the first to actually last all day AND not crease on my eyes! I have hooded eyes so the struggle is real to find crease-proof eye products! Thirdly, I love how easily it is to blend the product. Other eyeshadow sticks I've tried either dry too quickly so that it becomes difficult to blend, or take ages to set meaning that I get impatient and it ends up creasing! These take the perfect amount of time to set, and great for those rushed mornings when you still want to look fab! Lastly, im embarrassed to say, they're just so pretty to look at!
