Great finishing brush, soo soft and effective!
I absolutely love this brush! I only need to lightly swipe once to diffuse as a final step, and need to keep myself from repeating just because it feels so nice and pampering. It makes me really enjoy the final step in my makeup routine.
I bought this last year. Did it have a smell? Yes i could smell it when new. after the first wash I did not smell it when dry. After the 3rd wash i did not smell it anymore when wet. Value is great compared to similar Chikuhodo brushes. Would repurchase for sure if needed. Quality is great as well.Anh V. Feb 07, 2022
Soft but smelly
I've never had a squirrel brush smell this strangely, tbh. It smells kinda like goat but VERY strong. Fortunately, it is beautiful, nicely bound and very soft, so I can excuse this, but I am disappointed at the smell if it is an indication of the quality.
The brush is a a slightly paddle-shaped brush (my favorite type) and good for bronzer or all-over finishing powder/setting powder application. Silky soft, medium density, perhaps on the slightly denser side. I am sure she will fluff up more with future washings, however.Diana S. Jan 26, 2022
Poorly shaped, ok for the price
I bought this brush because it's similar to the Chikuhodo Makie Series MK-UM Powder Brush but $50 less. Previous years Lunar brushes were officially in collaboration with Chikuhodo so I'm guessing these are still manufactured by Chikuhodo.
The quality of the bristles is good, the design is cute, and the makeup application is beautiful.
However, this brush feels cheap for a few reasons: - The handle is very light, there's no weight to it at all which makes the brush top heavy. - The bristles are shaped unevenly and the shape doesn't look like what is shown in the product photos. My picture is taken after the brush has been washed twice and used about 10 times for makeup application. - The smell of the bristles is horrendous and very noticeable when you get it wet. The smell is getting fainter each time I wash it though.
I want to keep the brush because I think the performance is good for how much I paid for it. Still, for $125 I am disappointed that I did not get a symmetrical brush.4 found this helpful.Shelly S. Jan 24, 2022
I was blown away by how gorgeous this brush actually was when it arrived. It’s so much cheaper than the alternatives available without compromising on quality or standards. Every bit as luxurious as the Z-9 and MK-UM. Highly recommend getting one before they are gone.5 found this helpful.Yumi A. Jan 24, 2022
Not what it use to be…
I’m sad because the quality of Japanese fude isn’t what it use to be. Last couple of brushes I’ve purchased all had major issues in bundling. The shape of the brush did not look smooth and clean due to its flawed bundling. I no longer think the workmanship calls for its high price tag anymore… no longer worth the price tag. Two stars for the art… which came off center…9 found this helpful.
