Beauty Product Reviews

I wanted to love it but....

Sighs. I have never paid this much for a self tanner in my life. Nor, have I ever tried St Tropez before, but I knew it was a good name and figured if I was going to ever try this brand, this would be the product I would want to try. I was so intrigued when I first saw this on QVC. An oil? Goes on smooth? Smells good? Last over a week? Count me in! Well, Beautylish packaged this very nicely. However, the St Tropez packing, well it's not that great. The glass bottle is not very practical. While it does look very luxe. I was so afraid of knocking over the bottle and tanning everything around me. Once you remove the cap, there is a tiny pin size hole for the product to come out. Not good! you have to shake and shake and shake to get a descent amount on your hand to apply to your skin. I didn't like that, at all. However, once you get it on and get it on your skin, it is forgiving in the sense that it doesn't dry too quickly. You have time to rub it in. Since this was an oil, I didn't bother mixing it with a little body lotion like I always do. Another mistake. It left areas like my knees a little darker even though I "bent" while applying and went over them lightly. The second time I used this, I removed that plastic top and just poured it out on my hands. This didn't work too well either. Product comes out too fast to keep up with it. You also waste a lot, as well. And let's face it, this stuff isn't cheap. I followed up with a body lotion like I normally do on my second attempt. Much better, however both times it left me with a not so pleasant yellow undertone and not the deep bronze look I was going for (Light complexion/ Natural blonde/blue eyes). Wish I could be happy with this, but I am not. I will go back to my Fake Bake (it's cheaper at $25.00).

Also, while it smells nice in the bottle, once it dries on your skin, it still has the same typical tanner smell like the rest of them. I also stained my pillow cases (I waited several hours before I went to bed)- plus side, when I washed the sheets it did come out just fine.
