Beauty Product Reviews

Repurchase!

I previously bought the entire Parian Spirit set sold here on Beautylish. It included a 32 oz bottle of Parian Spirit, a travel spray bottle and a jar. This time, I just purchased the refill. Although this product is due to arrive Tuesday, I decided to go ahead and review it because it is a repurchase.

I will start by saying that this product smells very strongly of oranges, but not in a perfume sort of way. Every time I clean my brushes, my entire family knows because it smells like I have just ground up a batch of orange peels. It's not unpleasant, but it is VERY strong, so if you are sensitive to smell, be aware that this will linger on the bristles.

However, this stuff WORKS!!! I have tried multiple products through the years to clean my makeup brushes and this is the first product that I have found that works to get every bit of powder or cream out of my brushes without grinding the life out of them against a mat. It also dries in minutes. It does take a bit longer with denser brushes, but you could probably use them in 30 minutes to an hour after cleaning.

I usually clean my brushes on Sunday evenings so they are ready to go for Monday morning. I also sometimes spot clean them on Wednesday evenings if time allows. I have found that this stuff even removes stains from my lighter colored brushes have had left behind from previous deep cleaning with traditional products like MAC brush cleaner or Sigma brush magic.

With that being said, I will say that it's best to not dip your brushes into the product. I've had a few brushes fall apart because this stuff works so well, it dissolves the glue that holds the bristles in. Instead, I would recommend pouring a little onto a hand towel or, better yet, putting it into a spray bottle and spraying it on the bristles. In just a few swirls, all of the makeup and gunk is gone and your brushes are like brand new. For whatever reason, IT cosmetics brushes are the most affected by the cleaner. I've cleaned Morphe and Sigma brushes with it and they've stood up better.

So, if you're looking for a fast, easy way to clean your brushes, this is definitely it!

Great Shadows!

I almost didn't buy this palette after seeing all of the negative reviews on YouTube. I own the Gold Palette and the Biba palettes and while they're both very pretty, I honestly don't get much use out of them. I like the colors in the Gold palette very repetitive and while the Biba palette is fine, I just feel like it is missing a color or two and so reach more for palettes that are all in one when getting ready for work in the morning.

However, with that being said, the formula is on point. I love how creamy Natasha's shadows are and the Safari palette color scheme just reaches out to touch me. My biggest complaint is that, for the price, I need to be able to use every single shadow in the palette and be happy with the results.

I don't know if it's a quality control issue or if I just don't own as much makeup and therefore am less picky than beauty Youtubers, but I adore this palette. Every color is rich and creamy and performs just the way I need it to. I find I can go extremely neutral for work or, I can add a touch of color for days when I'm feeling a bit more playful or on nights out, can go full glam. This palette is extremely versatile and I love having access to cooler tones. I am tired of the warm, neutral craze. If that's your thing, do it girl, but I just want something different.

My opinion is that if it speaks to you and you can afford it, go for it. Especially if you aren't going for Instagram or YouTube extremes, but are just looking for a nice quality, everyday palette.
