The Theodora Palette
Reviews
I was super hesitant about buying this palette and its pair the Glinda when they came out because of pricing, but I realized once I took that leap and bought them that they were great! the colors are perfect, they're super smooth and silky. Plus once the colors run out or can't be used anymore new colors can be bought and popped into this palette! Beats having to buy a whole other palette!
Oh wow the colors I'm in love!
I used to be a devotee of Nars, but I'm switching sides slowly.
I love stories like the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland, and I've loved all the special edition palettes coming out from various brands, and when I saw this one I loved it immediately. The Glinda pallette didn't entice me because it was bright and sparkly, not really my thing, but this one with the mattes, the smokey colours, and the unexpected brights, I love it. had to have it! I was sure the lipstick would be a flop for me, but I didn't care. I bought it for myself at Sephora for a little treat because I had a bad week.
Oh. My. God.
I used it once and I couldn't stop imagining what I would do next time or the next time, or considering taking everything off to try a new idea. People said they didn't understand why this or that color is in the palette, I disagree, I think they all go together great. I used jealous by blending across the 2 colors and making a line at an angle from the middle of my eye to the outer edge of my brow on top of a smokey base of the matte brown/tan colors, highlighted the outside with the pale shimmery highlighting color, and it looked great. I love a little unexpected pop of color, I think that's great to add as a possibility, and I think it fits the character too.
I have so many ideas on what to do with the palette. Just open your imagination and give it a shot, try anything!
Also, I tried this lipstick, AMAZING! The color is not only vibrant and amazing, it lasted forever basically, and it is gorgeous. It's sold me on their lip pencils, I'm going to pick up another one in their darkest shade (I love dark lips) as soon as I can.
Their eyeliner is amazing. I own literally 9 of them that I use regularly, and I may have more stashed away that I forgot about. I don't need to try it to tell you it rocks. Love that it's in there, I can toss this in my purse and go and have EVERYTHING. I love it. I just get my BB cream and this and go and I'm covered. I'm only scared that it may crack, or something, inside my bag, and then I wouldn't have it anymore! So I am nervous because I love it too much haha. (that's just me being silly, it wont do that ofcourse, UD products are very good)
I adore my Glinda and Theodora palettes. Full sized colors that are removable, so you can mix and match. The colors are highly pigmented and not chalky like other shadows I have used in the past. If you take the time to play with the colors, there are a lot of gorgeous looks that you can come up with. LOVE!
Nostalgia Sake says need it...
I had to pick both of these palettes up for the nostalgic sake of them. I thought these would be perfect for me... considering this one has some nice neutral shades. I was super underwhelmed when I started playing with the looks. It wasn't anything spectacular... Bummer. At least I'm not going to look back at it on eBay and wish I bought it.
Nothing Spellbinding Here
The Theodora Palette is the counterpart to the Glinda Palette. Of course the packaging and the construction is great, but for the most part I am very underwhelmed.
The Theodora Palette also comes with the Super Saturated Lip color and UD signature 24/7 liner in Zero. There is also the great instructional insert card on how to get the Theodora look. I have to say, the Super Saturated Lip Color really sold me. I liken it to MAC Red. It glides on easily and quickly, and the color payoff is intense. Love it!
Now onto the shadows: I am underwhelmed. This palette contains colors that are nothing spectacular. Sure, you can create the look'; however, I found them to be overtly conventional. I see these color combinations every day, and after using the Glinda Palette, this one left me kinda sad.
If you have read my Glinda Palette review, I you'll know that I like color combinations in palettes to make uniform sense and have a distinct relation the the palette's namesake, and there's just one color that leaves me baffled, and not in a god way: Jealous. I get the whole good witch wicked with thing, but in my opinion, this shadow color has no business being in this collection. It's a shimmery greenish yellow. I don't get it. Sure, on it's own, it's probably a fun color to play with, but in my opinion, it just does not work with or belong in this specific palette, and that agitates me.
As the familiar saying goes, 'Hindsight is always 20/20,' and if I had it to do all over again, I would not purchase this palette. In my opinion, it's just flat, boring and trite.
