As a general rule, I'm not a big Urban Decay enthusiast; however, I am a sucker for collections inspired by a movie. So I bit the bullet and purchased this palette, and I am glad that I did.
First off, the packaging: When I removed it from the box, I was plesantly surprised to find that although it is somewhat small in size, the actual tin is very well constructed and solid. This is one of those palettes that you could just throw in your overnight bag and not worry about the shadows getting broken and/or crushed; hence, it's the perfect size and shape for any MUA's kit.
This palette comes with a Super Saturated High Gloss lip color in Glinda, and their signature 24/7 Glide on Eye pencil in Rock star. Urban Decay has also added an insert instruction card on how to achieve the 'Glinda' look. The diagram is very well thought out, and the 'look' is very simple to recreate.
Now, on to the actual shadow. I really like the color combinations and finishes in this palette. You can create a real super demur angelic look or you can go all out and create a more 'Good Witch Gone Wild Look.' These shadows are nicely pigmented and can be applied either wet or dry. One of the most important things to me when I look at a palette is this: Do all of the colors make sense as a collection. Usually I'll find a shade or two within a palette that baffles me as to why it's in the collection, as it has nothing to do with the color schematics of the palette as a whole. Every single shadow in this collection makes congruent sense, and that is a big selling point for me.
My absolute favorite shadow in this collection is Aura. When I first ran my brush through it, it threw up caution signs in my mind. It looks like a hot mess of blue and yellow cotton candy, and the high hopes I had came crashing down. Boy, was I wrong. Once I blended this color out, I was amazed: Gone were the traces of carnival cotton candy, and what was left was probably one of the most unique and strange shadow colors I have ever seen. When blended, it turns into this pinkish, lavender that casts a very very light sort grey sheen. When applied, this color never looks the same from any angle. One minute it looks like a light chiffon pink shade, and if you turn your head 2 inches, it looks like a storm that's just starting to brew. It's totally bizarre, and I dig it. If for no other reason, buy this palette just for the Aura shadow. You won't regret it. It's well worth the $49.99 price tag.
Excellent Spring Palette.
I decided to get this palette over the Theodora one because the colors in this were much more suited to spring/summer I felt. (Although in all honesty I will probably grab the Theodora one too.)
The products are the normal high quality you'd expect from Urban Decay. The shadows are a bit sheer but primer really helps with that and they really do give off the 'fairy witch' glow. The peach color works great as a highlighter across the cheekbones. The purple eyeliner is very pretty, although a bit smudgy. Again primer helps with this. The lip pencil is a sheer nude that is gorgeous on. I have a feeling I'll be buying more of this lip pencil in the future (it's simply a renamed Nude lip pencil from their collection).
Stunning palette great quality
I love this palette, it's sweet and girls but can be dramatic as well, the eye shadows are amazing quality and the colour pay off is outstanding! The lip gloss is stunning and the eyeliner is amazing! Would whole heartedly recommend buying this palette before it is sold out!!!
Sweet and Girly for Any Day!
I love how feminine and pretty these colors are! I like darker colors but these really refreshed my style. The colors I personally love are the iridescent pinky blueish lilac, and the shimmery peach since they work perfectly for every day wear. If you want to amp up an everyday look, I recommend this palette.
I am so impress with this palette, the colors are so pigmented and vivid…I feel like Urban Decay did such a great job at selecting colors for the Glinda palette…The palette is so ethereal, it reflects the character Glinda perfectly…I adore the “duo shades”, especially the color “Aura”, when I first swatch the color I instantly fell in love…the color Aura is a iridescent lavender, it screams fantasy…Overall I am very satisfied with this palette, great to add to one’s makeup collection or simply have as a collectors piece for any OZ fan!
