Best thing ever to exist.
This is literally the ONLY eyelash curler I will ever ever use in my life. It's just so perfect. It gives my stumpy, "goes-straight-down" eyelashes an amazing lift. It just curls them so they look naturally curled but better, and AH, so perfect! I've even had about 5 friends hooked on to it!
Awesome! Beauty tool staple. I can't live without it.
I remember the first time I ever saw an eyelash curler. I was 7 years old. I was sitting in my aunt's bathroom, on the counter as she put makeup on me. Most of the makeup application was pretty painless up until I laid eyes on her eyelash curler. I had no idea what it was. When I realized that she was going to put the thing right up to my eyeballs and use it to curl my eyelashes, I started to rethink my excitement over my first makeup application.
Fast forward years later, I no longer fear the iconic eyelash curler. I embrace it. In fact, I can't imagine my daily routine without it. I have used several types of eyelash curlers over the years. The Shu Uemura eyelash curler has been, by far, my favorite eyelash curler that I've ever used. It helps to create a perfect curl with each use because of its mushroom-shaped silicone pad. The silicone pad creates a stay-put edge for the lashes to lay on. There's no pinching or funky crimping of the lashes. Just perfectly curled lashes each time.
To use the Shu Uemura eyelash curler:
1. Open curler by spreading the handles. 2. Center the upper lashes between the top and bottom (silicone pad) section of the curler. 3. Position the curler at the base of the lash line. 4. Gently squeeze handles and hold at a 45 degree angle for 10-15 seconds.
**To avoid any breakage, use the eyelash curler before applying mascara.
Shu Uemura recommends:
- Clean the eyelash curler after each use. - Replace the silicone pad after three months (a replacement pad is included) - The eyelash curler should be replaced every six months
Shu Uemura products are no longer available for sale here in the United States. There aren't anymore Shu Uemura freestanding boutiques. You can't even purchase Shu Uemura products in a Sephora store. It appears that you can still purchase the Shu Uemura eyelash curler on Sephora.com so get them while you can before they're all gone.
You don't need no stinking pricey eyelash curler! It's just a scam! Boy was I wrong on that! Maybe it's just the shape of my eyes but this has been an amazing product for me. It curls my lashes with just 3 easy pumps without any pulling of my sparse lashes, and I cannot spare to lose any of my lashes! For $19, I feel as though this was a great investment. It's been about 3 years now and I have had no need to replace the curler, only replacing the replacement pad.
I can't imagine my life without this...
I don't know how I can sum it up in a few words without repeating "awesome, amazing, incredible" throughout the entire thing. It works SUPERBLY on any eye shape to curl your lashes. It doesn't require a whole lot of pressure to get your perfect curl. All of my friends are shocked that they've had such good results with this curler compared to their little Revlon ones. If you're willing to make an investment for your appearance, pick the Shu.
Great quality product that DOES make a difference!
I never really thought about eye lash curler. I didn't think that such a little tool could have such an effect on the eyes! My friends recommend that I try one before wearing mascara, and she suggested the Shu Uemura curler. When I saw the price tag, I immediately thought “$19 for that? No way”, and bought a cheapo drugstore lash curler for about $3.
After pulling a few eye lashes out, I decided to invest in the Shu Uemura.
The rubber pad is really well designed so it doesn't pull out any lashes. The metal mechanism is ergonomically comfortable for my fingers. After applying eye primer, shadow, and liner, I use this before applying mascara (NEVER CURL LASHES AFTER MASCARA. ever)
I fit the eye lash curler at the base of my lashes and pump once for 5 seconds, then I move up to the mid length of lashes and pump again for 5 seconds. My lashes are very curled and actually stay that way, even without mascara. It's a subtle difference, but my eyes seem to twinkle more when my lashes are curled.
I have an almond/round eye shape. If this particular lash curler design doesn't work for you based on shape, I recommend the Shiseido lash curler for shorter lashes.
The BEST Eyelash Curler
I was introduced to Shu Uemura through their famous eyelash curler years ago. Since then, I have yet to come across another that can curl my lashes like this one does. The shape of this curler allows you to get close to your lash line and curl without any pinching. Like others have mentioned, not a lot of pressure is required to get the maximum curl. The key is to do a couple slight pumps as close as you can to your lash line to really feather out your lashes. This technique helps to reduce the wear and tear of the rubber pad making the lash curler last a long time. When it does wear down and it's time to change, Shu Uemura always packages an extra rubber replacement pad with every curler, making this amazing eyelash tool worth every penny!
Mr. Shu Uemura
I was in Tokyo in the summer of 1989 with my sister on a business trip for four days, at which point we went on three weeks of art tours throughout the countryside of Japan. I was lucky enough on the first night to sit with the wife of the Director of Marketing and Sales of Asia, my Sister was his counterpart in Northern and Southern United States and sat with him. I ended up as a guest being seated by the husband of the host and enjoyed talking to her about building their dream house in Tokyo which I had JUST done in Louisville. During our conversation she asked if I would like to see a Japanese Tea Ceremony and I was so thrilled I practically jumped in her lap because as a child I wore a Kimono that my Mother's friend brought back for me after her trip. The very next day after our dinner, I arrived at the Ceremony and was the only female guest. Mr. Shu Uemura was doing the makeup on the two geishas. After the ceremony was over I asked if he could give me tips on colors for my skin tone and also tools. He was so sweet that he took me by my arm and escorted me to his store and the first tool was the eyelash curler which he demonstrated for me. So I bought it and several beautiful handmade brushes and a supply of color for the summer and fall. I am so lucky to have had him as my guide to color and how to put it on to look at its best. I miss him greatly because each year I ordered two sets of colors for the spring/summer and fall/winter which I continued and wrote to him about KY since he was curious about my life. I ofter had pictures made so that he could see my house which to a Japanese person was a museum because they only have a small one room bedroom, kitchen/living room/dining room plus their one ofter very lovely bathroom with a large tub for bathing. So there you have a very exciting way of buying the most respected eyelash curler!
best curlers ever
these are the best curlers there is. curl so easily and quickly.and fit pretty much all eye shapes. bit more expensive than other curlers but totally worth the extra as the curl lasted all day and looked really natural and didn't just bend and kink the lashes like all other curlers I've tried.
