I wasn't sure what I thought about this foundation, but after trying it for a couple of weeks I think I've formed a pretty firm opinion. This foundation is everything that it says it is. It's light and airy; very liquid and runny. When I put it on my face, it feels like I'm not even putting anything there. We all know the classic "foundation feeling." The first time I applied it with a brush it honestly felt like I was just rubbing the brush on my face. Because it's so pigmented, it ALSO provides medium-to-full coverage. Not a lot of foundations can claim that. One layer, I would say, is medium coverage. But it's so easily buildable. Add a second layer and you've got full coverage. I use 3-5 pumps (depending on whether or not my skin is behaving) to get full coverage.
My ONLY complaint about this foundation is its longevity. I initially tested it through the day with nothing else on my face. At the end of the day I noticed it had become kind of patchy, and some of my problem areas began to show through. However, this was easily fixed by adding a primer (specifically Smashbox Photo Finish Original). Slap that on underneath before application and you're golden.
This product works on a variety of skin types but not as well on oily skin. Dry skinned ladies (and gents!) rejoice, this is not a drying formula. However, it will cling to dry skin that hasn't been properly exfoliated and can get patchy when used with certain powders. The formula works well when applied with foundation or kabuki brushes (for medium coverage) as well as fingers (medium-full coverage), and can be applied sheerly with a damp beauty blender. The shade range is good but some colors skew a bit yellow, however it's perfect for me. I use it in the shade Siberia and I have very fair, neutral-leaning-yellow undertones with surface redness.
I am truly in love this is such a weightless foundation the coverage is right I would say its a medium coverage but you can build it up to full coverage without it looking cakey it was 96 degrees were I live and my moms foundation was melting off and when she looked at me she said " what foundation you wearing you looking flawless trough this heat"
seriously.. this foundation is SO amazing. I love the natural finish of it, how it just makes my skin look so radiant and healthy. the shade matches me perfectly which most foundations don't. I'm actually super impressed with this foundation and I'm glad I joined the bandwagon. Plus it has a pump! i only need two pumps for my face whole face. which for my MAC foundations I needed about 5 or 7 lol.
I haven't been excited for liquid foundation in a long time. This formula is made with green notes, so it works well for anyone with redness. On an everyday basis, just apply this all over and you can instantly see the redness erased. On days when I want a more glamorous, I use a little more and the coverage is fantastic. The coverage can go from medium to full coverage and best of all it feels so lightweight. Another awesome thing about this foundation, is that it is actually luminous without settling or highlighting in any unsightly textured areas. This is definitely one of the few things I've picked up that I actually adore. than any other product
I have used many different foundations, but this is my ultimate fav! I am quickly approaching 50, but still maintain on oily complexion. I prefer a "light" natural feeling foundation, but with enough to provide coverage for a somewhat uneven complexion. This is the holy grail. It is perfect for summer life in the South. Even during the hot days, active work schedule with physical exertion and "hot flashes" this foundation stays in place and continues to look fantastic. There is nothing else out there like this. Love, love, love it. Thank you NARS! (For natural look, apply with fingers and sheer it out, gorgeous)
I haven't been excited for liquid foundation in a long time. This formula is made with green notes, so it works well for anyone with redness. I have scarring and redness from cystic acne and this alone covers well. On an everyday basis, I can bypass color correcting and just apply this all over and can instantly see the redness erased. On days when I want a more glamorous, I use a little more and the coverage is fantastic. I use a duo fiber foundation brush and blend with a beauty blender. The coverage can go from medium to full coverage and best of all it feels so lightweight. Another awesome thing about this foundation, is that it is actually luminous without settling or highlighting in any unsightly textured areas. This is definitely one of the few things I've picked up that I actually adore.
This foundation is actually lightweight and has medium to full coverage. I am actually really excited about this foundation. I have scars from cystic acne and redness from new and old scars. I typically have to color correct first before I apply foundation . With this formula, you don't need to color correct because it's already formulated with green notes to counteract any redness in the skin. On regular days I'll use a couple of pumps for my entire face and other days I'll use a little more if I want that full glam face. With either application, the skin feels completely comfortable, I don't feel Cakey and my skin actually glows. A lot of times with luminous foundations they tend to highlight textured skin, but this doesn't at all. It just looks beautiful and is comfortable.
This is my first NARS foundation and the coverage was awesome for my redness and cystic acne/breakouts.
I was very excited to use with my Real Techniques foundation brush but sadly it didn't buff/blend well and my beauty blender didn't help either. I realised that using my fingers were the best and it really set quite fast so its advisable to work on an area one at a time.
Don't get your hopes up for a super dewy formula, I'm not entirely sure where NARS got "luminous" from. They came out with this formula to replace the Sheer Matte formulation. It's definitely an improvement.
First off, there's a pump!
When I was able to pick my shade, I chose Deauville. It is a little yellow upon first glance but I find it counteracts any redness in my complexion.
My skin is dry and with primer, it didn't cling to my dry patches too much. It was by no means necessary painfully obvious. It concealed my pores and didn't emphasize any of my blemishes.
I wouldn't say it lives up to an all day claim. I was about to Skype with my boyfriend and I noticed after about six hours of wear my t-zone was a little shiny. That never happens with my Amazonian clay foundation.
For the price, $56 CAD, I was expecting to be blown out of the water. My socks weren't rocked off but I wouldn't say I'm unimpressed.
